A better weapon does more for an early Human Warrior than a bag full of new armor. Start in Northshire and Elwynn, then work through Westfall, Loch Modan, Redridge, Duskwood, and the Wetlands. You'll pick up all three stances, weapons and shields, and the useful new Forever quests along the way. Dungeon trips are optional.
Updated November 4, 2026 for Blizzard's November 2 changes: new Arms and Cruelty orders (Improved Tactical Mastery now has 3 ranks), Defensive Stance threat and the Slam cooldown.

What to install from CurseForge for Forever: the useful and the fun
Maps inside dungeons:Dungeon Crawler Forever shows floors, passages, bosses and quests. Open it with /dm. Its data changes with the beta: double-check quest requirements in game. More conveniences, screenshots and highlight commands - in the useful addons guide.
How to install. In the CurseForge app, add the game with the “+” button and point it to your Forever client folder - a Forever tab appears. Manually on the beta: the _classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns folder. Addons for regular Classic won't work - you need a file marked Forever (1.60.1). ★ - our pick.
Already in the game - no addon needed: coordinates on the map and minimap (turn them on in the settings), quest objectives on the map (the “Enhanced” template at first login, or the quest objectives option), a damage meter, a swing timer, the Cooldown Manager, one combined bag, an equipment manager and a modern auction house. Not in the game: a threat meter, markers for quests you haven't picked up yet, and a /way command.
Quests and map
★ Questie - who gives quests and where the objectives are, on the map and minimap. It still lacks some of the new Forever quests.
★ TomTom - an arrow to a point. The coordinates on this site copy as a /way command for it.
★ Leatrix Maps - reveals unexplored parts of the map, shows dungeon entrances, and the map can be enlarged.
Forever Quest Tint - tints the text of new Forever quests, so you see at a glance what's new.
Conveniences
★ Leatrix Plus - auto quest turn-in, junk selling, repairs, fast loot and dozens of small things. There's a separate version for Forever.
★ Baganator - proper bags and bank: the built-in combined bag can't be moved. A similar one - Bagnon.
★ Auctionator - posts auctions quickly, remembers prices and shows them in tooltips.
★ Platynator - draws neat bars above mobs and marks the ones you need for a quest. Very handy while leveling.
Professions
★ GatherLite - herbs, ore and fish on the map: it already ships with more than 26 thousand points made for Forever.
GatherMate2 - the same, but it only remembers points as you gather them yourself.
For fun: voiceover and dialogue
★ Spoken - English voiceover for quests, books and zones. On the Forever forums it gets the most praise: “like an audiobook”. More in the addons guide.
★ Immersion - movie-style NPC dialogue instead of the usual quest window.
Optional
Details! or ThreatClassic2 - threat in dungeons: the built-in damage meter doesn't show it.
Easy Experience Bar - experience per hour and how much is left to the next level.
Dungeon Journal - dungeon quests and loot: Forever has no dungeon journal of its own.
WeakAuras has no Forever version; use the fork ForeverAuras instead (it can do what the built-in Cooldown Manager sees).
For mail, instead of Postal try Forever Mail: recipient picker, mail history and attachment lists. More in the general addons guide.
Zygor and ElvUI aren't installed through CurseForge.
Combat “helpers” that do calculations are banned in Forever, as in the modern game: addons may display, but not calculate.
For warriors
OverpowerAlert - a sound and on-screen text when Overpower lights up after your target dodges; it also warns you when Revenge is ready. Settings - /opa. Made for Forever (file from October 12), about 1.2 thousand downloads.
WeaponSwingTimer - Queuing - a swing bar that changes color while Heroic Strike or Cleave is queued. It also shows when to press Slam so you don't clip your swing. Forever's built-in attack timer doesn't show the queue. There's a Forever file.
Tanking dungeons? Install a threat meter from the “Optional” card: the built-in damage meter doesn't show threat.

How not to lose hours while leveling
Small things about your route, mobs, mana, and speed that add up to hours over a whole leveling run
Route
Running around eats roughly a third of all leveling time. So grab quests in bundles and finish them in one trip, with at least two or three objectives close together on the map.
Don't be afraid to drop a quest with a rare drop, an NPC who isn't there, or an objective on the far side of the zone. Leave escorts for the end of the loop, since they usually run through the same mobs the nearby quests need.
Heading to the next spot with full mana and health? Kill mobs on the way. You regenerate anyway, and a couple of extra mobs on every run adds up to hours by the end.
While a mob is dying, start walking to the next one. Finish off the last few percent with auto attacks or a wand instead of a big spell.
Which mobs
Green mobs die fast and are barely a threat, but in Forever they give 4-20% less XP than in Classic. Blizzard says that's intended. Look at XP per hour, not at the color.
Yellow and green mobs are a fine pick. Orange and red ones are almost always worse. There's no XP penalty, but you miss more, fights drag on, and your mana and health melt faster. The one exception is elite group quests, if you've got a group.
Supplies and timing
Always carry food and water, or you'll get stuck in the middle of a mob camp with empty bars. Addons that auto-sell gray items and auto-repair at a vendor save time too.
Use your Hearthstone and long-cooldown abilities on cooldown, not "for later." The perfect moment might never come.
Spirit is useful for everyone while leveling, because you spend less time sitting between fights. Got an item with Spirit that's a bit weaker on other stats? I'd keep it.
Build and trainer
Leveling talents aren't level 60 talents. While leveling, you're your own tank and healer, so defensive and recovery talents beat an extra percent of damage.
The Legacy perk "Thrill of Adventure" gives back up to 5% health and mana after you kill a mob that gives XP.
New ranks show up every 2 levels, but not every trip to the trainer is worth it. Check what you'll actually get, and don't fly to a capital for a rank that barely changes anything.
People
Buff someone who's passing by, and they'll probably return the favor.
Elite quests go faster with a partner, and on PvP servers it's a lot safer too.
Speed
Use Charge on mobs along the way. It comes back quickly and cuts down on walking.
➜
Following the route
Work down the main chapters in order. Their level ranges show when the quests fit, not the level you'll definitely reach by the end. Rested experience, groups, extra kills, and skipped quests all change that.
The main chapters lead into each other. Optional trips can be skipped entirely, so don't fill your log with their quests unless you're going. At 27-30, continue through the Wetlands, Stormwind, Duskwood, and the Berserker Stance quest at 30. The excavation, Stockade, Nek'rosh, Eliza, and Stalvan are extra trips for experience and rewards.
The shopping blocks list vendors and upcoming quest rewards. Compare them with what you're wearing before spending anything. Vendor stock comes from game files, so check the actual shop when you arrive. Prices are estimates and can change with discounts. You don't need everything on the list.
✦
Leveling talents
Pick a build and spend your points from 10-30
You get your first point at 10 and have 21 by 30. I'd start with Arms and a two-hander. If you'd rather tank and spend less time eating, pick Protection with a shield. There's an early catch for Humans, though. You're using one-handers until Stormwind, where Woo Ping teaches Two-Handed Swords. Wu Shen in Old Town can reset your talents. At launch, a reset starts at 1 gold and gets more expensive. Choose your point order before spending it; that gold matters early on. These builds follow the Forever tree after Blizzard's November 2 changes.
Arms: two-handermain21 / 0 / 0Bleeds, more rage on the pull, and Anger Management by 20. This is the familiar Warrior leveling route recommended by Icy Veins and Method, with Mortal Strike waiting farther down the tree at 40.
At 30, Sweeping Strikes lets you hit two mobs together. It requires level 30, so don't plan earlier pulls around it. Using an axe instead? You can take Weaponmaster at 1/5 for +1% crit and fill the remaining ranks after 30.
You'll stop between pulls more often than a Protection Warrior. Beta players also complain about running short on rage. Use Bloodrage on cooldown when your health allows it, and finish nearly dead mobs with autos instead of spending the last of your rage.
Icy Veins offers another order. At 15-16, take Improved Overpower at 2/2 instead of Improved Charge, then Spearing Strike at 25. I'd be cautious about that last pick. Beta players call it a "trap" because its strong effect only works on giants, dragons, and mounted enemies.
Protection: shield and Revengewith a shield0 / 0 / 21Take a one-hander and shield, spend less time recovering, and keep a tanking set ready for dungeons. This is Mobalytics' main recommendation, and Method also offers it for solo play.
Shield Specialization adds +5% block chance and gives 5 rage for each block, up from 1 in Classic. Your main damage comes from Revenge, which Improved Revenge boosts by 60%. Improved Thunder Clap makes Thunder Clap cheaper, and you can use it in Defensive Stance in Forever. With a shield equipped, Master of Defense gives another 5 rage when you dodge or parry. At 25, Vanguard lets you use Charge without leaving Defensive Stance.
Early Protection is slower. Until you learn Revenge and Shield Block at 14-16, a two-hander kills faster, which is why Mobalytics suggests staying Arms through 15 and resetting at 16. The order here avoids that reset (I'd save the money).
Cruelty, then Armsfast start16 / 5 / 0Put your first 5 points into Fury for crit, then head into Arms as far as Deep Wounds. Method recommends this start because critical autos generate more rage in Forever.
Fury: Death WishFury0 / 21 / 0Stay with a two-hander and build a steadier supply of rage. This order draws on Icy Veins and Warcraft Tavern. Beta players have been kinder to Fury than Arms.
Take Cruelty for crit, then Unbridled Wrath for a 60% chance to gain 1 rage on a hit. Lingering Rage delays rage decay by 8 seconds, giving you time to reach the next mob. At 20, Piercing Howl slows nearby enemies, which helps with runners and PvP. Getting hit can trigger Enrage for +10% damage, and solo mobs give you plenty of chances. At 30, Death Wish adds +20% damage for 30 seconds.
Dual wielding unlocks at 20 after training Dual Wield with Wu Shen in Stormwind or Kelv Sternhammer in Ironforge. Keep a strong two-hander until you have two good one-handers.
Brother Danil : supplies and a place to sell junk. Do not spend your first coins on armor.
Janos Hammerknuckle : the database lists Shortsword and Hand Axe from level 1, around ≈ 50 and ≈ 80. Buy only for a substantial damage upgrade; the book reward soon replaces your starter weapon.
◈ Loot along the way
Keep Linen Cloth for First Aid. Nibbled-On Book starts the new book chain: use it rather than selling it.
➶ Level faster
Heroic Strike replaces your next auto-attack and spends rage. At low levels, do not queue it when the mob is almost dead.
Turn Linen Cloth into bandages. Sell leather at the Auction House later; keep meat for Cooking. Collect quest dust and candles after accepting their quests.

A new quest weapon matters more than several white armor purchases. Keep a shield even if you choose Arms.

Mining and Skinning fill your two primary profession slots. First Aid and Cooking use neither. You need Mining Pick and Skinning Knife; the database lists them with Tharynn Bouden .
Rallic Finn : repairs; Drake Lindgren : sell loot, buy water and bags at Eastvale Logging Camp. Bring food and bandages from Goldshire before the long loop.
Lyria Du Lac : level-8 and level-10 training in Goldshire; at 10, pick up the breadcrumb to your class trainer in Stormwind.
Reward this loop:Militia Sword, a 6.40 DPS one-handed sword with +1 Stamina, from Rare Books[7] (book turn-in). Use it with your shield immediately; the alternative two-handed mace needs separate training.
◈ Loot along the way
Skin wolves for the quest. The books for Rare Books[7] come from two different enemies: clearing only part of Jasperlode Mine is not enough.

Line-of-sight the wizard around a corner; losing sight of you makes him move closer. This can separate him from the nearby pack.
Best choice: Militia Sword, a 6.40 DPS one-handed sword with +1 Stamina, usable with your shield immediately. Northshire Hammer hits harder as a two-hander (8.33 DPS, +2 Strength), but it is a two-handed mace: only Buliwyf Stonehand in Ironforge teaches that skill, later on this route.

Stormwind: Defensive Stance
The capital: weapon training and the required stance chain.
Innkeeper Allison : food and hearth. Keep your hearth in Goldshire for the return to eastern Elwynn. The bank and Auction House are in the Trade District.
Gunther Weller : game files list Claymore from 10, a 9.06 DPS two-handed sword, ≈ 27. A fallback after sword training if your weapon is still weak. Soon you earn Edge of the People's Militia (11.21 DPS) for free (Westfall reward). Do not buy weapons before you can equip them.

Haggard's Axe: 7.78 DPS one-handed axe with +1 Stamina; Haggard's Sword: 7.62 DPS one-handed sword with +1 Stamina. You start with both skills. Humans have no special sword advantage in Forever, so you can take the stronger axe.
➜
Follow the road back through Goldshire to Westbrook Garrison.
Armor in Stormwind:Aldric Moore ; game files list Chainmail Armor from 12, 151 armor, ≈ 17. Only replace a very weak chest; compare all stats on a green Strength or Stamina item, not just armor.
◈ Loot along the way
Keep meat for Cooking and Linen Cloth for bandages. Collect golem quest drops after accepting the quest. Keep Precessive Autocognition Assembly if it drops: it starts a separate new quest.

Free the prisoner and escort him to the exit. Clear the route before starting, for Missing In Action[25].
If your weapon is weak:Brak Durnad ; game files list Executioner's Sword from 19, a 15.88 DPS two-handed sword with +8 Strength, ≈ 143; Dacian Falx from 21, 15.97 DPS for ≈ 120; shield builds can use Longsword from 21, 12.17 DPS for ≈ 87. Keep a stronger axe or dungeon reward.
Shoulders from 25:Wenna Silkbeard in northern Wetlands; game files list Elite Shoulders, 149-armor mail with +6 Strength/+5 Stamina, ≈ 16. Useful for an empty or weak slot. Check stock; avoid a separate detour if you cannot afford them.
Harbor shield and armor:Brahnmar ; game files list Kite Shield from 22 (491 armor, ≈ 62) and Polished Scale Vest from 22 (chest, 179 armor, ≈ 59). If yours are stronger, just repair.
◈ Loot along the way
Sell ordinary crocolisk leather separately from quest skins. Camping items and harbor metal only count after accepting the relevant quests.
➶ Level faster
Do not jump off ledges to save time in the Algaz mountains. The safe road goes through the tunnels, not higher-level passes.
➜
Fly from Darkshire to Stormwind, take the Deeprun Tram to Ironforge, then fly to Thelsamar.
⚔︎Questing loop: “Fire Taboo” and “Digging Through the Ooze”
◎
➜≈ 750 yards northwest · ~2 min on foot
In the north, between the Green Belt and Ironbeard's Tomb (), Mosshide Mistweavers, Fenrunners, Trappers, Brutes and Mystics drop flint for Fire Taboo[23]. The southern Gnolls and Mongrels do not. Nearby oozes at Ironbeard's Tomb drop the bag for Digging Through the Ooze[24].
Drops from:Crude Flint - Mosshide Mistweaver, Mosshide Fenrunner, Mosshide Trapper and others · Sida's Bag - Crimson Ooze, Black Ooze, Monstrous Ooze and others
↩Head back: turn in 5 quests and pick up 1 new one
New Forever quests fill out the familiar loop. Pull the final tough enemies with a partner.
0 of 22
Main route: finish this chapter, then return to Stormwind and Duskwood. The three group branches below are optional: choose any or skip all. Their 28-30 labels indicate suitable character levels, not a required gain from 28 to 30.
Don't forget in this section
Incisors for Razormaw Needling[29] drop at Raptor Ridge northeast of the Green Belt, not at the excavation.
Lifting the Curse[30]: the captain is aboard a ship, the deck is cramped, and mobs respawn behind you. Bring a partner if possible.
Before the later fights: compare your weapon with Merciless Axe from 26 (21.09 DPS, +12 Strength, ≈ 32), listed in game files with Gavin Gnarltree in Darkshire. Replace a weak weapon on returning to Duskwood; do not interrupt the Wetlands loop just to shop.
At 29, during an Ironforge visit:Olthran Craghelm ; game files list Metal Buckler, a 599-armor shield for ≈ 120. A solo fallback for more defense; consider the lost stats from a green shield and keep a stronger Crest of Darkshire if you have it.
◈ Loot along the way
Collect eggs, incisors and weapons after accepting the new quests. Items for a later Excavation Site: Wetlands run are not needed unless you choose that branch.
⚔︎ PvP
On PvP rulesets, both factions use the coast and the road to Thandol Span. Hearthing to the harbor is safer than fleeing through an enemy camp.
The main route continues with Next: Stormwind, then Next: Duskwood. With a group, choose the excavation, Stockade or Nek'rosh before leaving. None is required to continue.
lvl 28-30
Group: Excavation Site: Wetlands
New group area and a strong relic-chain hammer. A quest minimum of 24 does not mean safe soloing at 24.
0 of 13
Optional group run. New dungeon quests and a strong two-handed hammer are the goal. Choose any group branches or skip all. Without a group, continue the main route to Stormwind; resume there after your chosen runs too.
Don't forget in this section
Bring a group suited to level-30-31 enemies. Skip unverified distant searches if the group only wants the relic.
Chain completion:Heavehammer, a 27.73 DPS two-handed mace with +32 attack power/+60 armor, from Prehistoric Prism[31] (step). A good reason for a two-handed build to join a group. The other reward Hornbeam Heft is only 11.46 DPS with caster stats, not an automatic upgrade.
Follow the road east from the harbor to Rethiel the Greenwarden near the Green Belt, then south. Wowhead places the Excavation Site: Wetlands entrance at , with the meeting stone at .
Keep the provided relic for delivery to Ironforge's Hall of Explorers after local turn-ins. No need to kill the keeper again, for Prehistoric Prism[31].
Warriors choose Heavehammer: a 27.73 DPS two-handed mace with +32 attack power and +60 armor. The alternative staff is for healing.
➜
After turning in, continue the capital route or fly back to the Wetlands for remaining group quests.
lvl 28-30
Group: Stockade and Dun Modr
An optional reward run, also available without Deadmines. Deliveries tied to Deadmines are conditional.
0 of 21
Optional group run. Dun Modr and Stockade quests, including a strong two-handed mace, are the goal. Choose any group branches or skip all. Without a group, continue the main route to Stormwind; resume there after your chosen runs too.
Don't forget in this section
The best two-hander in this branch comes from The Fury Runs Deep[27], not a boss. Finish The Dark Iron War[30] in Dun Modr before entering the Stockade.
¤ Shopping and useful stuff
Wu Shen : level-28 training before the run. Buliwyf Stonehand in Ironforge: Two-Handed Maces for the reward. Bring bandages, food and a shield, and repair.
In Ironforge after the excavation? Fly back to Menethil Harbor first. Form a group in the Wetlands and head to Dun Modr's southern entrance; do not push straight onto Thandol Span.
Return to the harbor, fly to Ironforge and take the Deeprun Tram to Stormwind. Pick up two quests in your unlocked Lakeshire and Darkshire before gathering at the entrance.
Drops from:Head of Deepfury - Kam Deepfury · Head of Targorr - Targorr the Dread · Hand of Dextren Ward - Dextren Ward · Head of Bazil Thredd - Bazil Thredd · Red Wool Bandana - Dextren Ward, Defias Prisoner, Defias Captive and others
For a shield set, compare Lucine Longsword, a 14 DPS one-handed sword. Ursine Hammer is an 18.44 DPS two-handed mace: keep a stronger two-hander if you have one.
Headbasher: 23.70 DPS two-handed mace, +9 Strength/+5 Stamina. Higher DPS than Nek'rosh's sword reward, but weaker than excavation hammer Heavehammer.
➜
Return to the harbor. Stay in the Wetlands if doing Nek'rosh; otherwise continue to From the Wetlands to Stormwind.
lvl 29-30
Group: Nek'rosh
Optional end of the orc chain for a sword or one-handed axe.
0 of 7
Optional group run. A two-handed sword or one-handed axe reward is the goal. Choose any group branches or skip all. Without a group, continue the main route to Stormwind; resume there after your chosen runs too.
Don't forget in this section
Do Angerfang Encampment's catapults first (Nek'rosh's Gambit[31]); only then does the chieftain quest unlock.
Choose a reward:Ancient War Sword, a 21.67 DPS two-handed sword with +9 Strength/+6 Stamina, or Barreling Reaper, a 16.58 DPS one-handed axe with +5 Stamina, from Defeat Nek'rosh[32] (step). The axe is especially useful with a shield; compare the sword with Stockade and excavation hammers you already earned.
Two-handed option: Ancient War Sword, 21.67 DPS, +9 Strength/+6 Stamina. Already have Headbasher or Heavehammer? Do not swap automatically. Shield option: Barreling Reaper, a 16.58 DPS one-handed axe with +5 Stamina.
➜
Return to the harbor and continue to From the Wetlands to Stormwind.
lvl 29
From the Wetlands to Stormwind
Shared departure after the solo route and your chosen group branches.
0 of 2
The main route and optional group trips join here. Complete the shared turn-in and return, then continue to Duskwood. Already in Ironforge after the excavation? Skip another harbor flight.
Don't forget in this section
Turn in Cleansing the Eye[30] at Stormwind's Cathedral of Light; remember it while in town.
➜
Wetlands
Shellei Brondir : fly to Ironforge for level-28 training, then take the Deeprun Tram to Stormwind. Turn in the eye-cleansing delivery at the cathedral.
Already in Ironforge after the excavation? Continue from the tram; no need to return to the harbor. Update level-28 training if not already done.
Last town loop through worgen, ogres and Raven Hill. At 30, get your stance.
0 of 29
The main route after the Wetlands. Finish remaining chains; Eliza and Stalvan below are an optional group trip for extra rewards. Start the Berserker trial only after reaching 30: the chapter label does not guarantee you have enough XP.
Wu Shen : level-30 training in Stormwind after the loop. A strong weapon improves both autos and your new abilities.
Last purchase before 30:Gavin Gnarltree ; game files list Merciless Axe from 26, a 21.09 DPS two-handed axe with +12 Strength, ≈ 32; for a weak one-hander, Longsword from 21, 12.17 DPS, ≈ 87. Save gold if your chosen group branches already gave better weapons.
Armor: game files list Kite Shield (shield from 22, 491 armor, ≈ 62) and Polished Scale Vest (mail chest from 22, 179 armor, ≈ 59) with Morg Gnarltree . Fallbacks for old gear, not a required Berserker trial set.
➶ Level faster
Arms gets Sweeping Strikes at 30 only with the main build's point order. Other builds should not rely on it against two ogres.
⚔︎Questing loop: “Ogre Thieves”, “Look to the Stars” and “Merrick's Bow”
◎
One trip to Vul'Gol Ogre Mound: kill warriors and enforcers, take the leader's monocle and the hermit's crate, for Ogre Thieves[30] and Look to the Stars[30] and Merrick's Bow[28].
Drops from:Ogre's Monocle - Zzarc' Vul
Bring a partner for the tough named ogre. If you skipped the new family branch, only do quests you accepted.
↩Head back: turn in 5 quests and pick up 4 new ones
The Bride of the Embalmer[30] and The Legend of Stalvan[35] follow-ups are in the separate group branch below. Without a group, leave them and go for your stance. Nearly 30? Finish on green worgen and undead.
lvl 29-30
Group: Eliza and Stalvan
Finish the long stories, including a useful shield. Skip without a ready group.
0 of 7
Don't forget in this section
Stalvan Mistmantle is level 32 and tougher than normal mobs. Bring a full group.
Start Eliza's grave event only when everyone is ready: undead rise alongside her.
Eliza's shield:Crest of Darkshire, 661 armor, +2 Strength/+7 Stamina, from Bride of the Embalmer[30] (step). A strong tanking reward, better than the class shield and white purchases before 30.
For tanking, take Crest of Darkshire: 661 armor, +2 Strength and +7 Stamina. A substantial upgrade over the level-20 class shield.
➜
After turning in, head to Stormwind for the breadcrumb to Fray Island.
lvl 30
Berserker Stance: Fray Island
One required Kalimdor trip. The Whirlwind weapon is a separate chain after 30.
0 of 7
Start only at actual level 30. If short, finish safe quests on the route, grind suitable mobs or choose a group run from the reference section. Getting the stance does not require every optional branch.
Don't forget in this section
Confirm your ship at Menethil Harbor: take Theramore, while the other ship goes to Auberdine.
Start the Fray Island trial at full health: waves follow one another.
Leave The Windwatcher[30], the Whirlwind weapon follow-up, at 30: it needs distant travel and help against a strong enemy.
¤ Shopping and useful stuff
Wu Shen : level-30 training and the island breadcrumb. Buy food and bandages and fully repair before boarding.
Innkeeper Helbrek : set your hearth in Menethil Harbor before leaving to avoid swimming back after the trial.
⚔︎ PvP
On PvP rulesets, the Theramore route crosses contested territory. Avoid Horde outposts; stay near the water and outer roadside.
➜
Duskwood
Felicia Maline : fly to Stormwind. Wu Shen : train available level-30 abilities and accept !The Islander[30]. Learn Berserker Rage here too for fear protection and more rage generation; put it on your bar before the trial.
Already in Stormwind after Eliza and Stalvan? Start at the trainer. Both the breadcrumb and trial require 30.
➜
after travel
Tram to Ironforge, then fly to Menethil Harbor. Innkeeper Helbrek : set your hearth. Confirm the ship at the docks: take Theramore, while the other goes to Auberdine. Ask a dock NPC before boarding.
➜
after travel
In Theramore, unlock the flight path with Baldruc . Head north along the eastern coast to Fray Island, avoiding dense camps and fatigue waters. The island is off the Barrens coast at .
A long swim: stay near shore and avoid groups of sea enemies. The overland Stranglethorn route to Booty Bay's ship is riskier at 30 and unnecessary here.
Stand in the trial ring, defeat the successive fighter waves and the final opponent for The Affray[30].
Start at full health. Stay near the ring; bandage between waves if time allows. Save your shield and defensive abilities for a dangerous wave.
How to do this quest - The Affray
You have 10 minutes in total. The opponents come out one at a time, about every 15-20 seconds: in between you have time for Victory Rush and a quick bandage.
If it gets rough, run north off the island, over the hillock to the water: according to a Classic player's comment, the opponent drops off at the water and the quest does not fail.
When Big Will shows up, step away from the bars: according to the comments, he does not attack on his own. Bandage up, then Charge and fight.
Check your spellbook for Berserker Stance and Intercept. Choose your solo stance for the situation; do not constantly take extra damage just to stay in the new stance.
⌂
Hearth to Menethil Harbor. The Windwatcher[30] continues toward a Whirlwind weapon, but at 30 it needs more travel and help against a strong enemy: leave it out of your log.
⚔
Warrior: stances, weapons, rage and survival
When to change stance, where to find gear and how to complete Human class quests through 30
Humans already know one-handed swords, axes, and maces, and can use shields and mail. Woo Ping teaches Two-Handed Swords, while Buliwyf Stonehand teaches Two-Handed Axes and Maces. Once you've learned a new weapon type, build its skill on weak mobs before taking it into a hard fight. Misses won't fill your rage bar.
Some useful Forever additions come straight from your trainer. At 14, Tactical Mastery lets you keep up to 10 rage when changing stances. At 20, Victory Rush restores 10% of your maximum health after a qualifying kill, and Slam gives you another strong attack. Train Berserker Rage at 30. You don't need a particular talent build for any of these.
Train Tactical Mastery at 14 to keep up to 10 rage when changing stances (Stormwind training). Without it, a switch empties your bar. Change for a button you need, and account for the rage you'll lose.
Start with one-handed swords, axes and maces; your set is Worn Shortsword and Worn Wooden Shield. Learn Two-Handed Swords from Woo Ping in Stormwind; Two-Handed Axes and Maces from Buliwyf Stonehand in Ironforge. Train new skills on weak enemies.
7-10: rare books reward Militia Sword, a 6.40 DPS one-handed sword with +1 Stamina, immediately usable with a shield. Alternative Northshire Hammer is an 8.33 DPS two-handed mace with +2 Strength, but its skill is taught only in Ironforge, later on the route.
10-12: class weapon - Haggard's Axe, a 7.78 DPS one-handed axe, or Haggard's Sword, a 7.62 DPS sword; both give +1 Stamina. Racial Ruthless boosts general crit, so swords have no separate advantage.
16-18, Hall of Thanes: Ironforge Greathammer, a 15.97 DPS two-handed mace with a fire effect. Beats early 11 DPS rewards; learn Two-Handed Maces before equipping it.
20-22, Deadmines: possible drops Rockslicer, a 19.70 DPS two-handed axe with +7 Strength (from 18), or Cruel Barb, a 15.54 DPS one-handed sword with +12 attack power (from 19). Neither is guaranteed; a listed item does not mean you must repeat the run.
24-26, group keep fight: Orc Crusher, an 18.19 DPS two-handed mace with +8 Strength/+4 Stamina. A good fallback if the stronger Deadmines weapon did not drop.
28-30, excavation relic: Heavehammer, a 27.73 DPS two-handed mace with +32 attack power and +60 armor. A strong full group-chain reward, not a vendor purchase.
21: Gavin Gnarltree in Darkshire, Dacian Falx, a 15.97 DPS two-handed sword for ≈ 120; shield option Longsword, a 12.17 DPS one-handed sword for ≈ 87. Substantial early-weapon upgrades without group rewards.
24-26: new Redridge enemy rewards Alacritous Treads, mail boots with +5 Strength/+5 Agility. Prioritize Strength and Stamina mail; Intellect and spellpower do not help your attacks.
Rage
Save resources for the next fight
Heroic Strike replaces an auto-attack rather than adding a free hit. Queue it with excess rage; otherwise you lose both the ability's cost and the rage the auto would generate.
When a mob is nearly dead, let autos finish it. Apply Rend early in a sufficiently long fight, not just before the target dies.
Bloodrage trades health for rage. Use it with healthy reserves; near death, survive first.
With a shield, spend rage on a useful Revenge proc; in groups, save enough for Sunder Armor and holding a loose target after Taunt. Talent rage bonuses only apply to the build that takes them.
How not to die
Shield, recovery between fights and an escape route
First Aid: Michelle Belle in Goldshire, then Shaina Fuller in Stormwind. Bandage once enemies stop hitting you; eat to full before a dangerous fight.
Train Victory Rush from 20 to restore 10% maximum health after a qualifying kill. Use it on the next target before it expires; grey mobs do not replace normal XP-granting combat chains.
Keep a one-hander and shield for Shield Bash against casters. From 28, Shield Wall helps survive a hard fight; it requires a shield and Defensive Stance. Use survival buttons before your health is nearly empty.
From 22, Intimidating Shout buys time to retreat, but fleeing enemies may pull more. Human racial Will to Survive removes stuns, not all CC; Berserker Rage becomes available against fear at 30.
Pull the nearest enemy away from a pack; line-of-sight casters around corners. Slow runners with Hamstring; if the fight is lost, retreat through your cleared path.
Mining and Skinning are a cheap start, with First Aid and Cooking alongside them. The Mining for Dummies reward from Rascally Rodents[2] saves an early Mining trainer visit. Want Blacksmithing or Engineering? Replace Skinning. You only have two primary profession slots.
To progress beyond skill 150, you'll need the next training tier. Check a book's level and skill requirements before buying it. If you can't use it yet, I'd keep the money for weapon training.
What to keep
Linen and wool for bandages; auction extras. Sell leather and ore in stacks unless leveling a crafting profession.
Accept quests before collecting their items: many will not drop otherwise. Keep Bronze Tube if doing the star-gazing branch.
Weapon training and core abilities come before recipes or expensive white armor. Warriors also need repair money.
Cooked food with Well Fed XP Boost gives +5% kill XP for 15 minutes after eating for 10 seconds. It does not boost quest turn-ins; refresh before a long grind.
✦
Humans in Forever
Racial abilities
Ruthless gives +1% attack and spell crit, reduced from 2% on October 26. There's no separate sword bonus anymore, so compare weapons by their damage and stats.
Will to Survive breaks a stun and has a 3-minute cooldown. It won't remove other types of control, so check what's actually keeping you from moving before pressing it.
Perception improves stealth detection for 20 seconds, with a 3-minute cooldown. It'll help you spot a Rogue nearby, but it doesn't reveal stealthed players at any distance.
The Human Spirit gives +10% Spirit, raised from 5% on October 26. It helps you recover between pulls. Food and bandages are still your faster options when you need health back.
The guide's base data was checked on Forever beta 1.60.1 as of October 16, 2026. Starting weapon skills come from the Forever client. Don't rely on an old Classic racial description when choosing your weapon.
☠︎
Dungeons: preparation and rewards
Four optional runs along the Human route; levels indicate suitable groups
Pick a run for the group you have and the rewards you want. No group? Skip it. The main route doesn't require a dungeon. Experience from quests, kills, and rested bonuses varies, so a chapter's upper level isn't a promise. Collect dungeon quests just before the run instead of letting them sit in your log.
The Restless Dead[15] requires putting the spirit of Anvilmar to rest as well as killing souls. Check the full log before leaving, not just the kill counter.
Deadmines: preparation takes longer than the portal trip
Start with Gryan Stoutmantle and Alba Fairmoon at Sentinel Hill. The investigation and new explosives take you through Lakeshire and Stormwind; finish deliveries before the group meets at the entrance.
For A Dynamite Plan[16], bring exactly 10 Rough Dynamite. Buy them from another player or ask an engineer to craft them. You don't need to change professions. Keep the supplied explosives for the objective inside the dungeon.
Bazil Thredd[22] and The Stockade Riots[29] require the post-Deadmines investigation. Skip these two if you skipped that branch; other Stockade quests are independent.
After the run, you'll have turn-ins in Lakeshire, Darkshire, and Dun Modr. Headbasher doesn't arrive when you leave the Stockade. You still need to return to Dun Modr.
Excavation Site: Wetlands: reward after the delivery
This is a separate group area, not the ordinary raptors at Whelgar's Excavation Site. You can accept a quest at 24 without being able to solo its target as a level-24 Warrior.
Keep the relic; do not kill the keeper again for the delivery. High Explorer Magellas : final hammer turn-in. Continue the Stormwind return straight from Ironforge afterward.
Bring a one-hander, shield, food, and bandages if you're tanking. Repair and buy the abilities you need before entering. Your trainers are Wu Shen in Stormwind and Kelv Sternhammer in Ironforge.
In Defensive Stance, hold enemies with Sunder Armor; use Revenge after a defensive proc. Taunt brings back a loose target, but keep generating threat afterward.
Mark a first target and pull casters around a corner so they come into melee. Keep enough rage to control a loose mob. Shield Bash requires a shield, and from 16, Shield Block helps you survive hits and get more chances to use Revenge.
As DPS, wait for the tank to gather enemies. If you need to tank, Arms alone does not replace a shield and defensive abilities.
❖
What is new in Forever on this route
New Alliance quests, Warrior training and updated rewards
Checked for Forever beta 1.60.1 as of October 16, 2026. These changes affect specific Human Warrior steps. Numbers and rewards use Forever data; old Classic tables may differ.
Northshire and Elwynn: useful from the first levelsbeta data
Group area Excavation Site: Wetlands adds a relic chain through Prehistoric Prism[31] and Heavehammer. It is optional for solo progress and does not replace the normal outdoor loop.
20: Victory Rush restores 10% maximum health when used after a qualifying kill; Slam adds an attack. Both are trainer abilities, not talent or dungeon rewards.
Human Warriors start with one-handed swords, axes and maces. Train two-handers separately: Woo Ping for swords; Buliwyf Stonehand for axes and maces.
Old rewards changed too: Headbasher, for example, now has 23.70 DPS. Check the current Forever tooltip, not just a familiar item name.
★
Tips and common mistakes
Gold, return trips and decisions that save a Warrior unnecessary travel
Before leaving
What to check
New town
Train needed abilities, repair and check the next quest reward. Reserve training and repair money before buying a weapon.
New weapon
Check type and minimum level. Learn its skill and train on weak enemies before a hard clear.
Long loop
Food, bandages, bag space and the right hearth location. Do not vendor quest items with greys.
Group run
Collect quests before entering; bring a one-hander and shield. Everyone must accept an escort before it starts.
Fray Island
Actual level 30, training, bandages and a ready weapon. Hearth in Menethil Harbor before boarding; the Whirlwind weapon is not part of the trial.
Gold: buy to fill a gap
Pay for the abilities and repairs you need first. Then look at your main weapon, consumables, and bags. I'd skip a full set of white armor and check the nearby quest rewards instead.
A higher required level alone does not justify a weapon purchase. Compare DPS, Strength and damage per hit; assess your one-hander and shield separately for tanking.
Only buy Rough Dynamite if you're doing the Deadmines branch. After accepting A Dynamite Plan[16], bring the exact items it asks for. Similar-looking dynamite won't count.
Save linen and wool for bandages; sell excess materials in stacks. Rewards that improve neither combat nor defensive set can be compared by vendor value.
In Loch Modan, use Thelsamar; in Duskwood, Innkeeper Trelayne in Darkshire. Check your home before hearthing: the game does not update it automatically.
The Wetlands uses Menethil Harbor; the last Duskwood loop uses Darkshire again. Reset to the harbor before Fray Island: Innkeeper Helbrek , return preparation.
If your Hearthstone is on cooldown, take the planned road or an unlocked flight. Finished the excavation? You're already in Ironforge. Don't fly back to the harbor just to start the shared return to Stormwind.
The excavation, Stockade, and Nek'rosh are separate choices. Skip any or all of them. Eliza and Stalvan are another optional group branch after the main Duskwood loop.
Chapter levels are estimates. Still short of 30? Finish available quests, pick a group run, or kill safe green mobs. Wait until 30 before taking the stance breadcrumb.
The main route requires no dungeon, but some named enemies may need a partner. Repeated deaths do not make up for being underleveled.
Dangerous places and events
Elwynn mines and Moonbrook tunnels: keep your retreat clear. Fleeing humanoids may pull more; slow with Hamstring before they reach the next pack.
Trial The Rethban Gauntlet[22] has a timer and a death condition. Recover first, bring food and bandages; return for the quest after combat rather than doing side deliveries.
Menethil's ships and the orc camps are cramped, with respawns that can cut off your retreat. Clear nearby enemies before going in. Jumping across an unchecked deck can put you behind more mobs than you meant to pull.
Nek'rosh, Eliza and Stalvan finales, and the Redridge keep have group sections. A quest's minimum acceptance level does not mean a safe fight against its target.
Reach Fray Island through Theramore, not the Auberdine ship. Confirm the destination at the docks; watch fatigue and sea enemies while swimming along the coast.
Common Warrior mistakes
Selling your one-hander and shield after getting a two-hander removes your defensive set and Shield Bash. Keep a spare set in your bags.
Don't spend every bit of rage on Heroic Strike. It replaces an auto attack, so you pay the ability's cost and lose the rage that normal hit would've generated. Use it when you have rage to spare.
Buying a sword for the old racial: Ruthless boosts general crit, not swords alone. Choose an actual upgrade.
Treating the class shield as a requirement to collect the whole level-20 armor set. After The Shieldsmith[22], distant chain Fire Hardened Mail[28] and Furen's Armor[28] waits; it needs Kalimdor and a group run.
Confusing the Whirlwind weapon with a Berserker Stance prerequisite. The Affray[30] grants the stance; The Windwatcher[30] starts a separate later chain, not a required solo completion at 30.
The route ends with all three stances. Next are Arathi, Stranglethorn, the new Excavation Site: Wetlands and higher-level group chains. Check actual enemy levels, not only quest acceptance minima.
Don't fill your quest log with the rest of this chain at 20. You've already earned Furen's Favor, and keeping the shield doesn't require finishing the full set.
A quest becoming available at 30 doesn't mean you can solo it as a level-30 Warrior. Keep using a good weapon from earlier rewards until the trip makes sense.
