A Night Elf Warrior starts with a sword and shield, and this route works with that. We'll cross Teldrassil, Darkshore, and western Ashenvale before sailing to Stormwind at 20 for Redridge, Duskwood, and the Wetlands through 30. Defensive Stance comes at 11-12, the Elunite weapon at 16, and the class shield at 20. The Fray Island fight waits until 30. Weapon training, useful purchases, rage, and Elune's Light are covered along the way.
Updated November 4, 2026 for Blizzard's November 2 changes: new Arms and Cruelty orders (Improved Tactical Mastery now has 3 ranks), Defensive Stance threat and the Slam cooldown.

What to install from CurseForge for Forever: the useful and the fun
Maps inside dungeons:Dungeon Crawler Forever shows floors, passages, bosses and quests. Open it with /dm. Its data changes with the beta: double-check quest requirements in game. More conveniences, screenshots and highlight commands - in the useful addons guide.
How to install. In the CurseForge app, add the game with the “+” button and point it to your Forever client folder - a Forever tab appears. Manually on the beta: the _classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns folder. Addons for regular Classic won't work - you need a file marked Forever (1.60.1). ★ - our pick.
Already in the game - no addon needed: coordinates on the map and minimap (turn them on in the settings), quest objectives on the map (the “Enhanced” template at first login, or the quest objectives option), a damage meter, a swing timer, the Cooldown Manager, one combined bag, an equipment manager and a modern auction house. Not in the game: a threat meter, markers for quests you haven't picked up yet, and a /way command.
Quests and map
★ Questie - who gives quests and where the objectives are, on the map and minimap. It still lacks some of the new Forever quests.
★ TomTom - an arrow to a point. The coordinates on this site copy as a /way command for it.
★ Leatrix Maps - reveals unexplored parts of the map, shows dungeon entrances, and the map can be enlarged.
Forever Quest Tint - tints the text of new Forever quests, so you see at a glance what's new.
Conveniences
★ Leatrix Plus - auto quest turn-in, junk selling, repairs, fast loot and dozens of small things. There's a separate version for Forever.
★ Baganator - proper bags and bank: the built-in combined bag can't be moved. A similar one - Bagnon.
★ Auctionator - posts auctions quickly, remembers prices and shows them in tooltips.
★ Platynator - draws neat bars above mobs and marks the ones you need for a quest. Very handy while leveling.
Professions
★ GatherLite - herbs, ore and fish on the map: it already ships with more than 26 thousand points made for Forever.
GatherMate2 - the same, but it only remembers points as you gather them yourself.
For fun: voiceover and dialogue
★ Spoken - English voiceover for quests, books and zones. On the Forever forums it gets the most praise: “like an audiobook”. More in the addons guide.
★ Immersion - movie-style NPC dialogue instead of the usual quest window.
Optional
Details! or ThreatClassic2 - threat in dungeons: the built-in damage meter doesn't show it.
Easy Experience Bar - experience per hour and how much is left to the next level.
Dungeon Journal - dungeon quests and loot: Forever has no dungeon journal of its own.
WeakAuras has no Forever version; use the fork ForeverAuras instead (it can do what the built-in Cooldown Manager sees).
For mail, instead of Postal try Forever Mail: recipient picker, mail history and attachment lists. More in the general addons guide.
Zygor and ElvUI aren't installed through CurseForge.
Combat “helpers” that do calculations are banned in Forever, as in the modern game: addons may display, but not calculate.
For warriors
OverpowerAlert - a sound and on-screen text when Overpower lights up after your target dodges; it also warns you when Revenge is ready. Settings - /opa. Made for Forever (file from October 12), about 1.2 thousand downloads.
WeaponSwingTimer - Queuing - a swing bar that changes color while Heroic Strike or Cleave is queued. It also shows when to press Slam so you don't clip your swing. Forever's built-in attack timer doesn't show the queue. There's a Forever file.
Tanking dungeons? Install a threat meter from the “Optional” card: the built-in damage meter doesn't show threat.

How not to lose hours while leveling
Small things about your route, mobs, mana, and speed that add up to hours over a whole leveling run
Route
Running around eats roughly a third of all leveling time. So grab quests in bundles and finish them in one trip, with at least two or three objectives close together on the map.
Don't be afraid to drop a quest with a rare drop, an NPC who isn't there, or an objective on the far side of the zone. Leave escorts for the end of the loop, since they usually run through the same mobs the nearby quests need.
Heading to the next spot with full mana and health? Kill mobs on the way. You regenerate anyway, and a couple of extra mobs on every run adds up to hours by the end.
While a mob is dying, start walking to the next one. Finish off the last few percent with auto attacks or a wand instead of a big spell.
Which mobs
Green mobs die fast and are barely a threat, but in Forever they give 4-20% less XP than in Classic. Blizzard says that's intended. Look at XP per hour, not at the color.
Yellow and green mobs are a fine pick. Orange and red ones are almost always worse. There's no XP penalty, but you miss more, fights drag on, and your mana and health melt faster. The one exception is elite group quests, if you've got a group.
Supplies and timing
Always carry food and water, or you'll get stuck in the middle of a mob camp with empty bars. Addons that auto-sell gray items and auto-repair at a vendor save time too.
Use your Hearthstone and long-cooldown abilities on cooldown, not "for later." The perfect moment might never come.
Spirit is useful for everyone while leveling, because you spend less time sitting between fights. Got an item with Spirit that's a bit weaker on other stats? I'd keep it.
Build and trainer
Leveling talents aren't level 60 talents. While leveling, you're your own tank and healer, so defensive and recovery talents beat an extra percent of damage.
The Legacy perk "Thrill of Adventure" gives back up to 5% health and mana after you kill a mob that gives XP.
New ranks show up every 2 levels, but not every trip to the trainer is worth it. Check what you'll actually get, and don't fly to a capital for a rank that barely changes anything.
People
Buff someone who's passing by, and they'll probably return the favor.
Elite quests go faster with a partner, and on PvP servers it's a lot safer too.
Speed
Use Charge on mobs along the way. It comes back quickly and cuts down on walking.

Following the route
Main 1-20 route: Shadowglen → Dolanaar and Starbreeze Village → Ban'ethil Barrow Den → Darnassus at 10, start Defensive Stance (step) → northern Teldrassil and the Oracle Glade → Darnassus at 12 → Auberdine → northern Darkshore and the shipwreck (step) → Grove of the Ancients and Darnassus at 16 for training and an Elunite weapon (step) → finish Darkshore → western Ashenvale → Ruins of Mathystra. At 20-30: boat to Stormwind, level 20 training and the shield quest (step) → Redridge and Rethban Caverns (step) → Duskwood → a second Redridge loop → Stalvan and Stormwind at 24 → Wetlands via Ironforge and Loch Modan → back through Ironforge and Stormwind → the final Duskwood loop → level 30 training (step). Berserker Stance is a separate Barrens trip at 30 (step).
Class quests require your actual level: Vorlus Vilehoof[10] from 10, the shield from 20, Berserker Stance from 30. Chapter levels are targets, not guarantees. Falling behind? Finish green quests in the current loop or earn the missing XP on solo mobs.
Group chapters are optional; the main route does not require them. Pick up dungeon quests only when your group is ready, so they do not sit in your log. The main route holds no more than 14 of your 20 quest slots.
Hearthstone: Dolanaar, then Auberdine from 12 until you sail away; Lakeshire at 20; Darkshire from 21; Menethil Harbor in Wetlands; Darkshire again at 29. Shopping blocks list vendors and nearby quest rewards. Stock comes from game files, so check in game; prices are approximate. Warrior spending order: training → weapons → bandages and food → a shield and mail for empty slots. Skip water: you have no mana. You only need one bottle for a quest at 10-11 (step).
✦
Leveling talents
Builds for 10-30: which one to pick and in what order to spend points
Talents begin at 10, leaving 21 points by 30. I'd start with Arms even while using the early one-hander and shield. Bleeds, Charge, and rage retention work before the build takes two-handed specialization at 26. Learn Two-Handed Swords from Woo Ping when you reach Stormwind at 20. Protection is a good alternative for shield play and tanking. Icy Veins and Method recommend Arms, Mobalytics favors Protection, and beta players also like Fury. Respec through Arias'ta Bladesinger in Darnassus or Wu Shen in Stormwind. The launch price starts at 1 gold. Check the tooltips and calculator order before committing.
Arms: bleeds and ragemain21 / 0 / 0Get rage for your opener, improve bleeds, and reach Anger Management by 20. Keep the shield setup before 20, then move to a two-handed sword. Icy Veins and Method recommend this tree, which leads to Mortal Strike at 40.
Use Elune's Light early in a difficult pull. Its 10% crit bonus lasts 15 seconds and gives Deep Wounds more chances to apply the bleed. It improves the odds, though it doesn't guarantee a proc.
Beta players often find Arms short on rage, with more recovery time than Protection. Use Bloodrage when it's ready and save rage by letting auto-attacks finish a mob that's nearly dead.
Protection: shield and Revengewith a shield0 / 0 / 21Keep your starting sword-and-shield setup and build toward steadier solo fights or dungeon tanking. Mobalytics makes Protection its main choice, and Method also suggests it for solo play. No weapon-plan change is needed before 20.
The build needs Revenge and Shield Block before its damage feels comfortable. Darkshore has no trainer, so we learn both during the 16 Darnassus visit. The Improved Revenge point at 15 won't help until that next training stop.
Cruelty, then Armsfast start16 / 5 / 0Take 5 Fury points for crit, then move into Arms toward Deep Wounds. Method suggests this variant because crits contribute extra rage again in Forever.
Fury: Death WishFury0 / 21 / 0A two-hander with steadier rage and damage once you've got the weapon for it. Icy Veins and Warcraft Tavern cover Fury, and beta players often speak well of it.
Start with Cruelty for crit. Unbridled Wrath gives hits a 60% chance for 1 extra rage, and Lingering Rage delays decay by 8 seconds between mobs. Piercing Howl at 20 slows nearby runners or PvP enemies. Being hit can trigger Enrage, a 30% chance for 10% extra physical damage lasting 12 seconds. At 30, Death Wish gives +20% damage for 30 seconds.
Dual wield only after training Dual Wield. In Classic this is level 20; the Forever data does not specify a level, so check the trainer. Until you have two good one-handers, keep a strong two-hander. Before 20, a Night Elf has no two-hander along this route, so use a one-hander and shield.
The totems for Nature's Call[3] are in camps around Aldrassil and only count after accepting the quest. Pick it up before the loop.
¤ Shopping and useful stuff
Alyissia : the valley's Warrior trainer, teaching through level 6. At 1, Battle Shout costs 10 copper; at 4, Charge and Rend cost 1 silver each; at 6, learn Thunder Clap if you are still here.
Andiss : Tarnished Chain from level 1. Valley rewards fill gloves, belt, boots and chest; bracers and pants do not appear until 7-9. Options: Tarnished Chain Bracers, 29 armor, ≈ 35, and Tarnished Chain Leggings, 58 armor, ≈ 75.
Khardan Proudblade only sells white weapons; the best is Shortsword at 1.15 DPS, which is not worth buying. Your first meaningful purchase is Gladius in Dolanaar.
◈ Loot along the way
Linen goes into bandages. Warriors have no self-heal here, so bandages and food are your recovery tools. Cook nightsaber and boar meat; vendor gray loot.
➶ Level faster
Keep Battle Shout active. It is 40% weaker in Forever but lasts 3 minutes.
Heroic Strike replaces your next auto-attack and costs rage. If the mob is nearly dead, finish it with white hits.
Choose Pelt Collecting for Beginners or Mining for Dummies from the three books. Using the book teaches the profession immediately. Skinning and Mining are easy ways for a Warrior to make gold; you have two primary profession slots.
This new Forever quest introduces Night Elf racials; both abilities are already in your spellbook. Elune's Light grants +10% crit chance for 15 seconds on a 3-minute cooldown, useful on tough mobs.
New in Forever
⚔︎Questing loop: “The Balance of Nature”, “The Woodland Protector” and “Nature's Call”
Choose Thistlewood Blade for a Warrior: 2.05 DPS, twice your starting sword's damage. The dagger is almost equal, but Heroic Strike hits harder with a slow weapon. You cannot equip the staff without training.
⚔︎Questing loop: “Iverron's Antidote” and “Webwood Egg”
◎
Gather 7 mushrooms and 4 lilies in the valley, loot spider ichor, and collect the egg deep inside the cave, Webwood Eggs, for Iverron's Antidote[4] and Webwood Egg[5].
Meri Ironweave : Dull Heater Shield from 5, 161 armor, three times the cave reward's armor, ≈ 5. Buy the sword first, then the shield if you have money left.
Shalomon : Gladius, a 3.81 DPS one-handed sword from 4, ≈ 5.
Twice as strong as the spider quest reward and useful through 9. If you have money left, buy Dull Heater Shield, 161 armor, ≈ 5, from nearby Meri Ironweave.
⚔︎Questing loop: “Zenn's Bidding” and “Soft Saber Pelts”
◎
East of Dolanaar, gather 3 fangs, 3 feathers and 3 spider silks, then loot 6 soft hides from ordinary Nightsabers for Zenn's Bidding[5] and Soft Saber Pelts[7].
Escort the wounded Sentinel out of Ban'ethil Barrow Den. Defend her from attacks and wait for the escort to finish for Escaping Ban'ethil[9].
Clear the nearby corridor before talking to her. She walks slowly and mobs respawn. If it fails, pick up the quest again; a partner makes it much easier.
↩Head back: turn in 4 quests, pick up 2 new ones and visit your trainer
Rewards: Ban'ethil Quiver and Sentinel's Slasher. The sword is weaker than yours, 4.38 DPS versus 5.33; a Warrior has no use for a quiver. Vendor both; the sword sells for more.
Ariyell Skyshadow : Cutlass, a 6.82 DPS one-handed sword from 10, ≈ 20, if you can afford it. A free replacement arrives at 15-16, so buying it is optional.
Ilyenia Moonfire : Staves if you want a two-hander before 20 (Ariyell Skyshadow sells Quarter Staff from 11, ≈ 30); Bows for pulling casters from range. A new weapon skill starts untrained.
The quest requires 10 and only provides a referral. Elanaria offers Vorlus Vilehoof[10] without it, also from 10. Short on XP? Kill mobs along the western road to Darnassus.

Defensive Stance: take 10% less damage and deal 10% less damage. Facing three mobs? Equip your shield and switch stances; Thunder Clap works in this stance too.
Until you learn Tactical Mastery at 16, switching stances consumes almost all your rage. Switch before combat.
⚔︎Questing loop: “The Enchanted Glade”, “Tumors” and “Crown of the Earth”
◎
Near the Oracle Glade, gather 6 harpy belts, loot 5 tumors from tougher timberlings, and fill the Amethyst Phial at the moonwell for The Enchanted Glade[11], Tumors[9] and Crown of the Earth[11].
Drops from:Bloodfeather Belt - Bloodfeather Harpy, Bloodfeather Rogue, Bloodfeather Sorceress and others · Mossy Tumor - Timberling Trampler, Timberling Mire Beast, Elder Timberling
Rewards: Defender Axe and Thornroot Club. You cannot equip the axe without training, which is available in Ironforge; the mace is weaker than your sword. Vendor either; the mace sells for more.
➜
Take the northwestern road back to the wounded Sentinel and deliver the prepared salve.
Reward: Defensive Stance. Wowhead does not list Taunt or Sunder Armor at the trainer; they most likely come with the stance. Check your spellbook; if missing, check the trainer.
Rewards: Ashwood Bow and Thicket Hammer. A Night Elf cannot train Two-Handed Maces until Ironforge. The bow helps if you trained Bows (Darnassus), letting you pull casters from range. Otherwise, vendor either; the hammer sells for more.
Vesprystus : unlock the flight path and fly to Auberdine. If the flight is unavailable, take the boat from Rut'theran to Auberdine; ask the dockmaster for its destination.
Harlon Thornguard : Wall Shield, 336 armor, ≈ 18, the best shield along the route before 20 (step). Also sells mail, but rewards cover your empty slots.
There are no shield rewards on this route before 20, and this one has twice the armor of your earlier shields. Short on gold? Train first, then buy the shield after more turn-ins.
Rabid Thistle Bear roams outside town. Place the supplied trap at its feet, then lead the captured bear back to the druid in Auberdine for Plagued Lands[14].
Do not run too far ahead or drag the bear into someone else's fight. If you lose the trap, the druid supplies another.
Anaya Dawnrunner is 16 while you are 12-13. Start with full health, use Elune's Light and Bloodrage early, and equip your shield. If you cannot beat her, keep the quest. You pass the ruins again on the southern loop (step) and can turn it in in Auberdine (step).
Darkshore has no Warrior trainer. Train level 14 and 16 abilities together in Darnassus at the end of the next chapter (step).
➶ Level faster
Already 14 and using a shield? You can visit Darnassus early for Revenge, two levels sooner than the main route. Flying Auberdine-Rut'theran and taking the portal takes roughly 8-10 minutes round trip; the main route combines level 14 and 16 training.
Furbolgs flee at low health. Apply Hamstring early to stop them pulling their neighbors.
You have roughly a minute of breath. Loot two or three crates, then surface. Refill your breath before fighting the Shade. Nearby threshers hit hard; fight one at a time.
Find the red crystal at the eastern mountain wall and explore the area for The Red Crystal[14].
◎
Fill the supplied sampling tube at Cliffspring Falls to the northeast for The Cliffspring River[15].
◎
In the cave by Cliffspring River, gather five Scaber Stalks and one Death Cap for Cave Mushrooms[17]. Nagas are 15-17; Twilight's Hammer mobs by the Death Cap are 17-18. Pull one at a time and refill health before heading deeper.
Avoid jumping between ledges. A clear escape route matters more than a shortcut to a mushroom.
↩Head back: turn in 5 quests and pick up 4 new ones
Choose Briarsteel Shortsword for a Warrior: a 7.20 DPS one-handed sword with +1 Stamina. Your Elunite weapon arrives a level later, but this is still an upgrade.

Only Moonstalker Sires and Matriarchs in the far south drop hides for A Lost Master[20]. Do not farm ordinary moonstalkers.
Revenge becomes available after a block, dodge or parry: a cheap, hard hit. With a shield equipped and Defensive Stance active, it is your main damage button.
Shield Block, from 16, blocks two attacks within 7 seconds. A block immediately enables Revenge.
⚔︎Questing loop: “Buzzbox 525” and “A Lost Master”
◎
Loot 4 Grizzled Scalps from Grizzled Thistle Bears in the southern woods for Buzzbox 525[16].
Drops from:Grizzled Scalp - Grizzled Thistle Bear, Den Mother
◎
➜≈ 200 yards south · ~30 s on foot
Only two moonstalker types drop these hides: Moonstalker Sire (17-18) and Moonstalker Matriarch (19-20). The closest are near the Grove of the Ancients, , and the Master's Glaive, . Pull Matriarchs one at a time for A Lost Master[20].
Tactical Mastery preserves up to 10 rage when changing stances, making switches during combat practical. Still 15? Train the level 16 abilities in Stormwind alongside 18 and 20 (step).
For a shield setup, take Elunite Hammer: 7.61 DPS at 2.30 speed. It is the slowest weapon you can already equip, making Heroic Strike and Overpower hit harder. Elunite Sword has 7.62 DPS at 2.10; Elunite Dagger has 7.65 DPS. Elunite Axe has the highest DPS, 7.78, but Night Elves train Axes in Ironforge, which this route reaches around 25. Do not take the axe.

Total: 2 gold 60 silver. Train any level 12 or 16 abilities you missed in Darnassus too. Victory Rush is the key level 20 unlock: available for 20 seconds after an XP-granting kill, it attacks and restores 10% health, on a 30-second cooldown. Slam has a 1.5-second windup and 15-second cooldown (since November 2, was 18); beta testers criticize it, so use it with spare rage. The reward is Furen's Favor: 411 armor and +3 Strength, versus the Auberdine shield's 336 armor. Leave Fire Hardened Mail[28] for later; the mail armor requires Kalimdor and Razorfen Kraul materials, beyond 30 (reference). Already 21? Visit the Trade District for Dacian Falx or Longsword (step).
Vendor either reward. The bridge gloves (step) are better, and your Darkshore mail boots have more armor than the leather pair. Take the higher sell price, Black Whelp Boots.
⚔︎Questing loop: “Assessing the Threat”, “Show of Force”, “The Everstill Bridge” and 2 more
For a Warrior, Bridgeworker's Gloves: mail gloves with 105 armor, +4 Strength and +2 Spirit. Darkshore gauntlets have 85 armor and +2 Strength. Smith's Trousers are leather pants with +4 Strength and +4 Agility; your mail pants with stats are no worse.
Blackrock shamans and casters attack from range. Break line of sight around a corner to bring them to you. With a shield equipped, interrupt using Shield Bash.

Gavin Gnarltree : weapons from 21. For a two-hander, Dacian Falx, a 15.97 DPS two-handed sword, ≈ 120, a 23% upgrade over Mathystra's 13.03 DPS reward. For a shield setup, Longsword, a 12.17 DPS one-handed sword, ≈ 87. Maul and Battle Axe are a mace and axe; you have not trained those skills.
Morg Gnarltree : shields and mail from 22 with no stats. Kite Shield has 491 armor, ≈ 62; your class shield, Furen's Favor, has 80 less armor but +3 Strength. Stay near the shore; open water causes fatigue. The coastal pirate camp at has level 12-15 mobs, not a threat at 30.
Stand on the arena grate at . Challengers arrive one at a time; level 33 Big Will comes last - The Affray[30].
Start at full health with bandages ready. If a challenger grants XP, use Victory Rush before the next arrives. Save Retaliation for the last fighter: 15 seconds of counterattacks.
How to do this quest - The Affray
You have 10 minutes in total. The opponents come out one at a time, about every 15-20 seconds: in between you have time for Victory Rush and a quick bandage.
If it gets rough, run north off the island, over the hillock to the water: according to a Classic player's comment, the opponent drops off at the water and the quest does not fail.
When Big Will shows up, step away from the bars: according to the comments, he does not attack on his own. Bandage up, then Charge and fight.
Reward: Berserker Stance, +3% crit chance but +10% damage taken. Check your spellbook for Intercept: Wowhead does not list it at the trainer, so it appears to come with the stance. Both Intercept and Berserker Rage require Berserker Stance. The Windwatcher[30] starts the Whirlwind weapon chain, but its quests are level 37-40. Leave it for later.

Warrior: stances, rage, weapons and shields
Stance unlocks, rage, weapons and shields, and Night Elf class quests through 30
Night Elf Warriors start with One-Handed Swords, One-Handed Maces, Daggers, Shields and Mail. You have no two-handed skills. Woo Ping in Stormwind teaches Two-Handed Swords and Polearms; Buliwyf Stonehand in Ironforge teaches Axes and Two-Handed Maces; Ilyenia Moonfire in Darnassus teaches Staves, Bows and Thrown. Level new weapon skills on weak mobs.
New in Forever:Tactical Mastery at 14 retains up to 10 rage when switching stances. Victory Rush at 20 heals 10% health after a kill; Slam adds another weapon strike at 20. Berserker Rage arrives at 30 rather than 32. Thunder Clap hits twice as hard, has a 6-second cooldown and works in Defensive Stance; Battle Shout is 40% weaker but lasts 3 minutes.
You can train Tactical Mastery at 14, but the route gets it on the level 16 city visit. It saves up to 10 rage when you change stance. Before you have it, switch before starting the fight or lose the rage you've built.
Berserker Stance at 30 from the Fray Island fight in the Barrens (step): +3% crit chance but +10% damage taken. Berserker Rage, your fear break, and Intercept require this stance.
Rage
Save it for the next fight
In Forever, rage per hit depends on weapon speed rather than damage. Slow and fast weapons generate roughly the same rage over time. A critical white hit generates twice as much.
Treat Heroic Strike as a way to spend excess rage. It replaces the white swing, so you lose the rage that hit would've generated as well as paying for the ability.
Bloodrage trades health for rage. Use while healthy; near death, survive first.
Finish nearly dead mobs with auto-attacks. Apply Rend early in a long fight, not just before the target dies.
19-20: Hardwood Cudgel, 10.00 DPS, +2 Strength and +2 Stamina, for a shield setup; Woodsman Sword, a 13.03 DPS two-hander (step). Train Two-Handed Swords with Woo Ping as soon as you arrive in Stormwind (step).
Vendor mail is rarely needed: quest rewards fill everything except head and shoulders. Before your first reward, fill empty slots with Tarnished Chain in Shadowglen, 30-80 copper per piece. For shoulders, Elite Shoulders at 25, +6 Strength and +5 Stamina, sold by Wenna Silkbeard in Wetlands (Wetlands section).
Do not prioritize Intellect or Spirit on Warrior gear. Between two items, favor Strength and Stamina.
How not to die
Shield, bandages and an escape route
Learn First Aid from Byancie in Dolanaar, then Dannelor in Darnassus. Bandages are your main recovery tool. Use them once incoming damage stops, and eat before taking on something dangerous.
Shadowmeld can stop mobs attacking you during combat, on a 2-minute cooldown. Stay still while using it. I'd save it for a bad pull, with the ground around you checked before you move again.
Shield Bash, from 12, interrupts casts; keep a shield handy. Use Hamstring to stop a fleeing furbolg or naga.
From 20, Victory Rush attacks and restores 10% health within 20 seconds of a kill; open the next fight with it. Retaliation, from 20, and Shield Wall, from 28, are emergency cooldowns, both 15 minutes; the latter requires a shield.
Intimidating Shout, from 22, fears up to five enemies, but fleeing mobs can pull more. Use it only in an emergency.
If you are losing, leave early along a clear path, before reaching 5% health. Death is almost free before 10, and Wisp Spirit gets you to your body 75% faster. From 11, spirit-healer resurrection causes sickness and 25% durability loss.
Training visits at 1-20: 1 and 4 in the valley (step, step); 6 and 8 in Dolanaar (step, step); 10 (step); 12 (step); 14 and 16 in one visit (step). Train 18 alongside 20 in Stormwind (step). Visits at 20-30 follow the route: 18 and 20 (step), 22 and 24 (step), 26 (step), 28 (step), 30 (step).
Training through 10 costs around 19 silver; through 20, around 4 gold 14 silver, including 2 gold at 20. Training at 22-30 costs another 16 gold 30 silver (Wowhead Forever prices without discounts).
Elune's Light: +10% attack and spell crit chance for 15 seconds, on a 3-minute cooldown. A new Forever racial available from level 1, introduced by The Goddess Provides[1] in Shadowglen (step).
For a Warrior, crit also means rage: a critical white hit generates twice as much rage in Forever. Use it on elites and early in a difficult fight. In Arms, crits also apply Deep Wounds.
Shadowmeld
Shadowmeld: a 10-second cooldown out of combat and 2 minutes in combat, where it makes mobs stop attacking you. Moving breaks the effect.
Shadowmeld can buy breathing room after an extra pull, but poison and bleed ticks keep running. Check what the mobs do when you leave it before relying on the racial as a complete reset.
Quickness and Wisp Spirit
Quickness: +1% dodge and +2% movement speed. Since October 15, the speed bonus stacks with other movement effects.
Wisp Spirit: after death, your wisp moves toward your body 75% faster. Death costs almost nothing before 10, making this a quick return.
What is gone
Night Elves no longer have Nature Resistance in Forever. There are no racial weapon bonuses either; starting Sword, Mace and Dagger proficiency comes from your class.
✦
Professions and useful loot
Skinning and Mining give this route a simple source of gold. Add First Aid and Cooking. The manual from The Woodland Protector[1] in Shadowglen learns one gathering profession immediately. Want Blacksmithing? Replace Skinning. You have two main profession slots.
Where to train
First Aid: Byancie in Dolanaar, then Dannelor in Darnassus and Shaina Fuller in Stormwind. Especially valuable for a Warrior: bandages heal you between fights.
Cooked food grants Well Fed XP Boost: after eating for 10 seconds, +5% kill XP for 15 minutes. It does not affect quest turn-ins. Refresh it before a long clear.
Use linen and wool for bandages, meat for Cooking. Auction leather and ore in stacks in Darnassus if you are not crafting with them.
Quest loot only drops while its quest is in your log: soft nightsaber hides, Vorlus's horn and Elunite ore. Ordinary ore and leather can be stockpiled beforehand.
Vendor grays at the nearest hub. Free bag slots matter more than an extra city trip.
✦
Dungeons: preparation and rewards
The Redridge keep, Excavation Site, Stockade, Nek'rosh and Eliza: preparation, rewards and your role
Dungeons and group chapters are optional; the main route does not require them. Collect quests shortly before a run and only with a group ready, so they do not fill your log. Blackfathom Deeps in Ashenvale (20-27) is a detour because the route leaves for Stormwind at 20. Without a group, leave its quests alone: Researching the Corruption[24] in Auberdine, In Search of Thaelrid[24] and Twilight Falls[25] in Darnassus. The Deadmines are also outside the route. A Night Elf only visits Westfall while following Stalvan's trail, while the main Deadmines quest requires a long Sentinel Hill chain.
Tanking? Bring a one-hander, shield, food and bandages. Repair and train before entering: Wu Shen in Stormwind or Kelv Sternhammer in Ironforge.
Use Defensive Stance, build threat with Sunder Armor, and hit Revenge after a block or dodge. Taunt gets a loose mob's attention back. Follow it with threat before the mob turns away again.
Mark the first kill target, pull casters around corners and save rage for control. Shield Bash requires a shield; Shield Block helps absorb hits.
Playing DPS? Let the tank gather the mobs first. Arms talents do not replace a shield and defensive abilities if you end up tanking.
From 28, Shield Wall reduces damage taken by 60% for 12 seconds: an emergency button if the boss gets out of control.
Train a new weapon type at 25, then build its skill on weak mobs. Leaving it until 29 for a single hammer reward means spending the last part of the route missing swings.
The Fury Runs Deep[27]'s reward is not at the Stockade exit. Return to Dun Modr for it (step).

What is new in Forever on this route
New Night Elf and Alliance quests, Warrior training, boats and racials
Checked for Forever beta 1.60.1 on October 21-22, 2026: changes that affect the Night Elf Warrior route. Numbers and rewards use Forever data; old Classic tables may differ.
Thunder Clap at 6 hits twice as hard, has a 6-second cooldown, slows attacks by 20% and works in Defensive Stance. Both Rend and Thunder Clap scale with attack power.
Battle Shout gives 40% less attack power but lasts 3 minutes. Demoralizing Shout is 40% stronger and lasts 45 seconds. Shield Block at 16 blocks two attacks within 7 seconds.
From 20: Victory Rush, 10% health after a kill on a 30-second cooldown (training); Slam, whose first rank is already available at 20, with a 1.5-second windup and 15-second cooldown (since November 2, was 18). Berserker Rage comes at 30 rather than 32 (training).
Rage per hit depends on weapon speed rather than damage, so slow and fast weapons generate roughly the same rage over time. Slow weapons still suit abilities that deal weapon damage plus a fixed amount: Overpower, Slam, Cleave.
White melee crits generate twice as much rage since October 1. Rage from damage taken was increased on October 8: getting hit now builds it faster.
The Bloodrage tooltip no longer says it keeps you in combat. If that matches live behavior, you can use it before charging; check in game.
Wowhead does not list the first ranks of Taunt or Sunder Armor at the trainer either. They come with the stance; check your spellbook after turning in.
Berserker Stance comes from The Affray[30] at 30 on Fray Island in the Barrens (step). Intercept is also absent from the trainer list; Wowhead data links it to the stance unlock.
The direct Auberdine-Stormwind route is new in Forever (step), taking Night Elves straight to the Human capital without Menethil Harbor. Menethil Harbor-Southshore-Auberdine is another new line.
The Menethil Harbor-Theramore route (step) is from Classic. No removal was announced, but it was not separately checked in the beta.
Night Elves in Foreverbeta data
Elune's Light, a new racial, grants +10% crit chance for 15 seconds on a 3-minute cooldown. Shadowmeld now works in combat too, stopping mobs from attacking, on a 2-minute cooldown.
Quickness also grants +2% movement speed, stacking with other speed effects since October 15. Wisp Spirit gives +75% speed instead of 50%. Nature Resistance is gone.

Tips and common mistakes
Gold, Hearthstone, dangerous mobs and mistakes that waste time
Before leaving
What to check
New town
Check training, repairs and the next quest reward. Set aside training money before buying a weapon.
New weapon
Weapon type and skill. Night Elves start with One-Handed Swords, One-Handed Maces and Daggers; weapon masters teach the other skills.
Long loop
Food, bandages, bag space and your hearth location. Do not sell quest items with gray junk.
Class quest
Actual level: Vorlus Vilehoof[10] from 10, the shield from 20, Berserker Stance from 30. The Rethban Gauntlet[22] is timed and requires surviving.
The shipwreck
Full health, free bag slots, and surface between crates (step).
Sailing at 20
Finish Darnassus and Darkshore. Level 18 training can wait; the trainer is in Stormwind (step).
Group run
Quests before entering; one-hander and shield in your bags; repairs done. Start escorts once everyone has the quest.
Fray Island
Level 30, training, bandages and food. Set your hearth to Menethil Harbor before boarding (step).
Money
Spending order: training → weapons → bandages and food → a shield and mail for empty slots. Skip water: you have no mana.
Training through 10 costs around 19 silver; through 20, around 4 gold 14 silver; at 22-30, another 16 gold 30 silver (Wowhead Forever prices without discounts). Level 20 alone costs 2 gold, so save ahead.
The wreck off Auberdine: underwater breath runs out after roughly a minute (step).
Darkshore: Anaya Dawnrunner, level 16 in Ameth'Aran (step); Den Mother, level 18-19 in the cave (step); the furbolg ritual demon (step). Start all with full health.
Ashenvale: level 19-21 murlocs at Lake Falathim (step) and Zoram Strand nagas (step), near a Horde camp.
Ruins of Mathystra: level 20-21 naga Warriors and ranged Sorceresses (step).
Rethban Caverns: level 18-21 gnolls and a timer on The Rethban Gauntlet[22] (step). Avoid fighting along the way.
Wetlands: Sarltooth deep in Whelgar's Excavation Site (step) and the cursed ship's captain (step). Tight spaces and respawns behind you.
Duskwood: Vul'Gol ogres move in pairs (step). Fray Island: the last challenger is level 33 Big Will (step).
Common Warrior mistakes
Found a two-hander? Keep the sword and shield in your bags. You still need that setup for defensive work and Shield Bash.
Using Heroic Strike on every swing: it replaces an auto-attack and loses the rage that hit would have generated. Use with spare rage.
Pulling without Charge leaves your first seconds rage-starved. From 4, charge into each fight when possible.
Going for the horn without its quest: it only drops while Vorlus Vilehoof[10] is in your log.
Choosing an axe: Defender Axe and Elunite Axe require Axes training, available in Ironforge.
Flying to Darnassus at 18 for two abilities: Disarm and Thunder Clap (Rank 2) can wait until Stormwind.
Buying water: you have no mana. You only need one bottle for the salve quest (The Great Tree Provides[10]).
Choosing Mathystra's two-handed sword without training: it is unusable until you visit the Stormwind weapon master.
Training Two-Handed Maces or Axes at 29 for one reward: a fresh skill means missing hits while catching up through 30. Train at 25 in Ironforge (step) or skip it.
Accepting Fire Hardened Mail[28] immediately after the shield: this mail armor needs Kalimdor and Razorfen Kraul materials. Save it for after 30.
Expecting Berserker Stance from Whirlwind weapons: The Affray[30] unlocks the stance; The Windwatcher[30] is a separate level 37-40 chain.
✦
After 30: Furen's armor and Whirlwind weapons
Class chains beyond the 1-30 route
The route ends with all three stances and level 30 abilities. You can accept the class chains below at 20-30, but their objectives are for 30+. Do not fill your log with them early.
Fire Hardened armor
The shield follow-up, Fire Hardened Mail[28], comes from the same Stormwind blacksmith, Furen Longbeard : Wetlands spider fangs, Stonetalon chimera horns and a vial from Razorfen Kraul. Then Furen's Armor[28] awards Fire Hardened Hauberk: mail with 218 armor, +5 Strength and +14 Stamina.
The Windwatcher[30] follows Berserker Stance immediately (step). Your next trainer is Bath'rah the Windwatcher in Alterac Mountains, followed by level 37-40 quests and a tough enemy. Bring a group or return later.
Good weapons from the 20-30 group branches can last until this chain.
