How many Legacy points can you earn?
How to earn Legacy points
Each challenge awards 1 permanent point, once per account. There are 65 points in total, and one character can earn up to 29. That exceeds the 16-point spending cap, so alts are not required for perks, but they help you earn more points.
| Category | Points | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Classes | 27 | The first character of each of the 9 classes to reach levels 25, 45 and 60. |
| Professions | 18 | Skill 150, 225 and 300 in each of the 6 crafting professions. Gathering, Cooking, First Aid and Fishing do not count. |
| PvP | 12 | Ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14; Exalted reputation in four battlegrounds; and weeks 4, 7 and 10 of the Field of Honor season journey. |
| Dungeons | 3 | Complete every dungeon in each tier: sets of 6, 10 and 17 dungeons. |
| Raids | 3 | Onyxia, every Hyjal Summit encounter and every Barrow Deeps encounter. |
| Adventure | 2 | Explore the entire world map on one character and complete the Lord Valthalak Laid to Rest questline. |
Legacy rewards
Rewards count all points your account has earned, not just those you have spent: 15 points unlock a toy pistol, 25 the Spectral Bear Cub pet, 40 the Spectral Bear Tabard, and 55 the epic Spectral Bear mount (requires level 60 and riding skill). These rewards are cosmetic.
Frequently asked questions
How do I unlock Legacy in WoW Forever?
The Legacy window (the shield icon or the Y key) unlocks with your first Legacy point, usually when your first character reaches level 25. You can unlock it earlier by reaching skill 150 in a primary crafting profession or exploring the entire world map.
How many Legacy points can I spend?
At launch, each character can spend 16 points. Each perk rank costs 1 point. Points are shared across your account, but each character can choose a different perk build. Blizzard plans to raise the cap and add more perks later.
Where do Legacy points come from?
There are 65 account challenges covering class levels 25, 45 and 60, profession skill 150, 225 and 300, PvP, exploration, dungeons and raids. Each awards 1 point once per account. One character can earn up to 29 points, so alts are not required to fill your perk build.
Will Legacy points carry over from beta to launch?
No. Beta testers received 16 points through an achievement for the remainder of the test. At the November 4 launch, a new account starts its Legacy progression from zero.
What does the Talented perk do?
You start earning talent points earlier: at level 9 with rank 1, or level 5 with rank 5. The total remains capped at 51 talent points. Select the perk rank in our talent calculator and the level-by-level order adjusts automatically.
Can I reset my Legacy perks?
Yes, at a class trainer in a capital city, where you also reset talents. All perks are reset together. Blizzard has not yet announced the launch respec cost.
