A step-by-step route for WoW Forever: a Tauren hunter from Camp Narache to level 30. Where to go at every level and which quests to grab right away so you never run back; the three taming quests near Bloodhoof Village at 10 and which of Mulgore's beasts to keep; which guns and ammo to buy and when to switch to a bow (tauren start with a gun); where to learn your skills, which professions to pick and how your pet holds the mobs while you shoot.

Addons
What to install from CurseForge for Forever: the useful and the fun
Maps inside dungeons:Dungeon Crawler Forever shows floors, passages, bosses and quests. Open it with /dm. Its data changes with the beta: double-check quest requirements in game. More conveniences, screenshots and highlight commands - in the useful addons guide.
How to install. In the CurseForge app, add the game with the “+” button and point it to your Forever client folder - a Forever tab appears. Manually on the beta: the _classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns folder. Addons for regular Classic won't work - you need a file marked Forever (1.60.1). ★ - our pick.
Already in the game - no addon needed: coordinates on the map and minimap (turn them on in the settings), quest objectives on the map (the “Enhanced” template at first login, or the quest objectives option), a damage meter, a swing timer, the Cooldown Manager, one combined bag, an equipment manager and a modern auction house. Not in the game: a threat meter, markers for quests you haven't picked up yet, and a /way command.
Quests and map
★ Questie - who gives quests and where the objectives are, on the map and minimap. It still lacks some of the new Forever quests.
★ TomTom - an arrow to a point. The coordinates on this site copy as a /way command for it.
★ Leatrix Maps - reveals unexplored parts of the map, shows dungeon entrances, and the map can be enlarged.
Forever Quest Tint - tints the text of new Forever quests, so you see at a glance what's new.
Conveniences
★ Leatrix Plus - auto quest turn-in, junk selling, repairs, fast loot and dozens of small things. There's a separate version for Forever.
★ Baganator - proper bags and bank: the built-in combined bag can't be moved. A similar one - Bagnon.
★ Auctionator - posts auctions quickly, remembers prices and shows them in tooltips.
★ Platynator - draws neat bars above mobs and marks the ones you need for a quest. Very handy while leveling.
Professions
★ GatherLite - herbs, ore and fish on the map: it already ships with more than 26 thousand points made for Forever.
GatherMate2 - the same, but it only remembers points as you gather them yourself.
For fun: voiceover and dialogue
★ Spoken - English voiceover for quests, books and zones. On the Forever forums it gets the most praise: “like an audiobook”. More in the addons guide.
★ Immersion - movie-style NPC dialogue instead of the usual quest window.
Optional
Details! or ThreatClassic2 - threat in dungeons: the built-in damage meter doesn't show it.
Easy Experience Bar - experience per hour and how much is left to the next level.
Dungeon Journal - dungeon quests and loot: Forever has no dungeon journal of its own.
WeakAuras has no Forever version; use the fork ForeverAuras instead (it can do what the built-in Cooldown Manager sees).
For mail, instead of Postal try Forever Mail: recipient picker, mail history and attachment lists. More in the general addons guide.
Zygor and ElvUI aren't installed through CurseForge.
Combat “helpers” that do calculations are banned in Forever, as in the modern game: addons may display, but not calculate.
For hunters
Hunter's Field Guide - a bestiary for hunters: all 631 tameable beasts in Forever across 18 families, the new foxes included, with a map of where they spawn (dungeons too) and which beast teaches which skills and ranks. A beast goes into the guide when you target it, and Beast Lore unlocks its skills. By default it runs in Immersive mode: beasts and their skills unlock only once you've found them. If you want everything at once, switch to Reveal all in the settings and it becomes a full reference. You can search by beast, zone and skill, and you get world map pins and tooltips when you hover a beast. Open it with /fg, settings - /fg config. Version 0.5.8 for Forever 1.60.1 from October 13, almost 40 thousand downloads; available in English, German, French, Spanish and Korean.
Hunter Pet Atlas - a reference of Forever's tameable beasts: models, spawn points on the map, alerts for rare beasts and a reminder to feed your pet. Open it with /hpa. Forever 1.60.1 version from October 6, about 700 downloads; English and Spanish only.
Feed Pet: Forever - an icon when your pet is unhappy and one-click feeding from your bags; a separate alert if you have no food it eats. Settings - /fpf. Made for Forever 1.60.1, no dependencies.
Scope - an arrow counter that warns you when you're running low; one click sets a built-in waypoint to the nearest ammo vendor. Forever 1.60.1 version from October 13.
Hunter's Field Guide and Hunter Pet Atlas overlap: both show where beasts live. Hunter's Field Guide goes deeper into skills and ranks, while Hunter Pet Atlas warns you about a rare beast nearby, so one of them is usually enough. Hunter Pet Atlas, Feed Pet: Forever and Scope are young addons with hundreds of downloads and few reviews so far: install them if you like.

Leveling talents
Builds for 10–30: which one to pick and in what order to spend points
Your first talent point comes at level 10, then one per level: 21 points by level 30. Not sure what to pick? Go Beast Mastery: your pet holds the mobs and hits like a second player while you shoot. That's what the beta guides recommend (Method, Warcraft Tavern, wowforeverbuilds). A hunter trainer resets your talents: Holt Thunderhorn in Thunder Bluff or Yaw Sharpmane in Bloodhoof Village. Hover a talent for its Wowhead tooltip; the button at the bottom opens the build in the Wowhead calculator with the same order.
Beast Mastery: Pet Up Frontmain21 / 0 / 0Your pet is the tank and half your damage, and in Forever it also inherits part of your stats. At 25 - Summon Hawk, a new Forever talent.
At 25–30:Summon Hawk - a hawk dives at your target and attacks for 18 seconds, and you can keep two up at once; Summon Hawk and Arcane Shot share a cooldown. Then Ferocity 5/5 - +10% crit for your pet and the hawks; at 35 it unlocks Frenzy.
Swaps: at 17–18 - Improved Revive Pet (instead of Pathfinding) if your pet dies a lot: for careful players and Hardcore. You can leave Ferocity at 4/5 and spend the last point at 30 on another talent: Spirit Bond if you often eat between fights (at rank 1 - 1% health for you and your pet every 10 seconds), or Bestial Discipline if you're short on mana.
Cons: if your pet dies, half your damage is gone. Watch its health and hit Mend Pet in time.
Marksmanship: With a Petmarksman0 / 21 / 0More damage from you yourself: crit, attack power from Intellect and a strong shot after every kill. Recommended by Warcraft Tavern and wow.gg.
Pros:Lethal Attacks - +5% crit, and in Forever your pet gets your full crit chance. Careful Aim (new) - attack power from Intellect. Rapid Killing (new) - after every kill your next shot hits 20% harder, so you open on every new mob with a big shot. Efficiency saves mana - in Marksmanship it's the first thing to run out.
Group option:Lone Wolf (from 20, 11 points in the tree) - +20% damage while you have no pet out. Only with a steady tank: soloing without a pet is rough, and testers consider this talent weak.
Cons: your pet hits softer than in Beast Mastery, and your mana drains faster.
Survival Lite: Trackercareful10 / 0 / 11Less damage, but you and your pet are sturdier. For Hardcore, weak gear and higher-level mobs.
Pros:Improved Tracking - +5% to all damage against the creatures you're tracking. Endurance Training - your pet is 15% sturdier. Survivalist - +10% health, and a tauren already has 5% more health (Endurance). At 30 - Deterrence: 10 seconds of dodge and parry, your “don't die” button.
Survival: Meleefor later0 / 0 / 21A new Forever tree: a hunter with a two-hander. Up to 30 it's weaker than Beast Mastery - take it only if you plan to play Survival at 60.
Cons: until you learn Aspect of the Beast (30) and get a good two-hander, testers say there's “nothing to press”, and shooting is still stronger. You need a two-hander with high DPS - see the list in the “Hunter” section.
For tauren: you don't know Two-Handed Axes from character creation - Hanashi and Sayoc in Orgrimmar teach them; Staves - Ansekhwa in Thunder Bluff. On the other hand, War Stomp bails you out in melee: a 2-second stun on everything around you - a couple of hits with nothing coming back.
The tauren starting camp · Red Cloud Mesa in southern Mulgore
0 of 16
All the quests are close to the camp: take everything, do them in a loop, turn them in as a batch. About 40 minutes. No pet until 10: you have Old Blunderbuss equipped and Light Shot in your bag. You shoot from range, and whatever reaches you gets met up close: Raptor Strike, with Worn Axe in your hand.
Grace of An'she and Mu'sha[4] is timed, 10 minutes: take it when you're ready to run straight to the fire. The reward is a 6-slot bag.
The camp hunter trainer Lanka Farshot only teaches up to level 6. After that - Yaw Sharpmane in Bloodhoof Village.
¤ Shopping and useful stuff
Kawnie Softbreeze : Light Shot - a stack of 200 for about 10. Get 3–4 stacks: every shot uses a bullet, and when they run out your gun goes quiet. Water - Refreshing Spring Water: a hunter runs out of mana before health.
You start with Small Ammo Pouch: 6 slots and +10% ranged attack speed. It sits in a bag slot - don't sell it or take it out.
◈ Loot along the way
Don't sell cougar and boar hides: Skinning and Leatherworking are the hunter's professions (step), and the extras go to the auction house. Save the plainstrider meat for Cooking in the village: food in Forever gives +5% experience.
➶ Level faster
Your gun won't fire within 8 yards - that's the “dead zone”. Shoot from max range: while the plainstrider runs at you, you get 2–3 shots off. Once it reaches you, fight it up close - don't run in circles.
Tauren have War Stomp from level 1: a 2-second stun on everything nearby, 1.5-minute cooldown. A mob at your feet? Stomp, take two steps back, and you're shooting again.
A hunter can't wear mail until 40 (according to the beta client data): take leather from quest rewards, mail is only for selling. Track Beasts shows beasts on the minimap - handy when you go looking for a pet.
Aspect of the Monkey - +8% dodge: keep it on while you have no pet. Serpent Sting in Forever is half as strong as in Classic - only put it on a mob that will live longer than 8–10 seconds.
Shamans heal their friends - shoot them first. Pull the chief with a shot from the edge when nobody else is nearby: two mobs at once at level 5 is a lot.

Your base until level 10. In the village take everything at once, loop south and east, and come back to turn it all in at once. The hunter trainer is Yaw Sharpmane : he also gives a new quest to hunt a she-wolf, and at 10 the taming quests. Next to him is the pet trainer Reban Freerunner .
Don't forget in this section
Poison Water[5], Swoop Hunting[6] and Mazzranache[8]: everything for them drops from the same wolves, plainstriders and swoops - take all three quests at once. Rite of Vision[7] isn't a drop: the Well Stones lie by the Winterhoof Water Well, and the Ambercorn is under the trees around the village.
Kennah Hawkseye , per the game files: Ornate Blunderbuss≈ 4 (level 4) - 3 DPS, while the starter gun does 1.5. Your main purchase before 10. Light Shot and Small Shot Pouch are sold here too - 8 slots instead of 6, same ranged attack speed: buy it only if you're short on space.
Wolf paws and hearts, plainstrider talons and scales, swoop gizzards - don't sell any of it until you've turned in the village quests: three quests ask for them at once.

In Forever any “Well Fed” food gives +5% experience from kills for 15 minutes - eat it for 10 seconds. Cooking is unlocked by a new quest - Kaga Wildhoof by the road in front of the village. Do it first.
Until level 10 death is free: no “Resurrection Sickness”, just a little durability loss. The spirit healer is near the village - a death run is the faster way back to your turn-ins.
Krang Stonehoof is the warrior trainer, but this quest is for everyone: accept the new !Sparring Match[6]. Beat three trainees at the training arena nearby or win 3 duels against players - Sparring Match[6]. Turn in ?Sparring Match[6]: the reward is a potion and bandages.

Two loops: west to the gnolls, then north - the well, the dwarven dig site and Red Rocks. In between, a quick trip into Thunder Bluff to get the flight path and pick up a new quest. At the end - level 10 and the taming quests.
At 9–10 you can still die for free - this is the last level when a death run to your turn-ins costs nothing. From 11 you get “Resurrection Sickness”.
Plainsrunning: as long as you keep running without stopping and without taking damage, your speed goes up 1% every 5 seconds, up to +30%. Leave the mobs on the road alone between loops - you'll get there noticeably faster.
The poachers hit harder than the rest. The cave is cramped: shoot them one at a time from the edge. Two on you? Concussive Shot on one and back off while shooting the other; if it gets really tight - War Stomp and two steps back.

Taming the Beast
Three class quests near Bloodhoof Village: a plainstrider, a prairie stalker and a swoop
0 of 6
The class chain at 10: Yaw Sharpmane gives you three taming quests in turn - a plainstrider, a prairie stalker and a swoop. Each one is a short trip out of the village. The third quest teaches Tame Beast, and you take Training the Beast[10] to Thunder Bluff. You'll tame your own pet on the way to the mine (step).
Don't forget in this section
Training the Beast[10] is turned in at Thunder Bluff, on Hunter Rise: keep it until your first big visit to the capital (step). The reward is Beast Training: without it you can't teach your pet new skills.
Pet food: wolves and cats eat meat. You have Tough Jerky in your bag from the start - enough for the first few days; after that Kaga Mistrunner in Thunder Bluff sells meat. Plainstriders eat cheese, mushrooms and fruit: Nan Mistrunner in Thunder Bluff sells Shiny Red Apple, and the village has no food like that.
Seikwa - the stable: you can leave a pet there and pick it up later (2 slots).
➶ Level faster
All three beasts are a couple of minutes west and north of the village, and the three tamings give 2520 experience - about a third of level 10. Do them back to back, don't put them off.
With a pet the rhythm changes: send it at the mob, wait 1–2 seconds and only then shoot - otherwise the mob runs at you.
⚔︎Questing loop: “Taming the Beast”
◎
➜≈ 250 yards west · ~35 s on foot
Adult Plainstriders west of the village : Taming Rod is in your bag - use it on any of them, Taming the Beast[10].
Taming takes 20 seconds, and the whole time you have no armor: start away from other mobs and don't hit the beast - damage breaks the taming. The plainstrider becomes a temporary pet: you can fight with it, but before the next rod dismiss it (right-click your pet's portrait) - you can't tame a new one while you have a pet.
Just like in Classic, taming should come with Call Pet, Dismiss Pet, Revive Pet and Feed Pet. According to one tester, Feed Pet comes later - when you turn in Training the Beast[10] in Thunder Bluff: then your pet goes unfed until you reach the capital. No big deal: happiness barely drops on the beta. For now the swoop fights for you, and you'll tame your own pet up north (step).

Dismiss the swoop (right-click your pet's portrait) and tame the wolf - the two of you will collect the rest of the teeth together.
In Forever you can only tame beasts of your level or lower. Tamed one? Feed it right away (Feed Pet): a new pet is unhappy and hits softer. If you're lucky, a rare cat walks among the Flatland Prowlers - The Rake : level 10, attacks every 1.2 seconds according to Petopia. Want it? Dismiss the wolf and tame the cat: by testers' measurements, pets with a fast attack deal more damage on the beta, but Blizzard hasn't confirmed it.

Have the Thunder Bluff flight path? Fly from the Crossroads, that's fastest. If not, the shortest way on foot: south from the Crossroads to Taurajo, west into Mulgore, north along the road to Thunder Bluff and up the elevator.
In Forever Immolation Trap can be set in combat too, but only at your feet, 30-second cooldown: when a mob reaches you, drop the trap at your feet and it burns. Scare Beast takes a second beast out for 10 seconds (damage breaks the fear). Eagle Eye and Eyes of the Beast are for scouting - you can skip them and save 24. Haven't learned the level 12 skills yet? They're here too.

Want to swap your wolf for the patriarch cat (step)? Put the wolf in the stable now: Sikwa . You can't tame a new one while you have a pet, and there's no stable in the Dry Hills.
The Mulgore wolf attacks every 1.4 seconds, the patriarch every 1.3 (according to Petopia): the difference is small, so you don't have to swap. Want a cat? Tame the patriarch. It knows Cower: turn it off on the pet bar (right-click the icon), otherwise it drops threat and the mob runs at you. Kill the centaurs by the command tent. When Verog the Dervish appears, he shouts a challenge - look for him a bit south of the tent, by the Kolkar chest.
You'll turn in Jorn Skyseer[18] at Camp Taurajo at 20. Your pet has Bite: want the second rank (step)? Leave your pet in the stable while you're at the Crossroads: Sikwa .

⚔︎ PvP
The Alliance needs Chol'aruk too - they have their own version of the quest. Someone hanging around his camp isn't necessarily a partner. On PvP realms in the Barrens it's the Alliance players who are flagged, not you.
From 20 you have Freezing Trap: if an Alliance rogue comes out of stealth and hits you in the back - trap at your feet; once he's frozen, run 20 yards away and only then send your pet and shoot: any damage breaks the freeze. Trap on cooldown? War Stomp: 2 seconds is enough to get back to range. Arathi Basin opens at 20 only at launch: on the beta, according to testers, only the new battleground from 30 works.

Don't want to level a new skill? Stay with the gun (step): until 26 there's almost no difference, and at 26–30 your Auto Shot will be 5–15% weaker, by our estimate.
Heavy Recurve Bow hits almost as hard as BKP 2700 "Enforcer" and costs less. The quiver goes into a bag slot in place of the ammo pouch and gives the same +10% ranged attack speed, but it only holds arrows: sell the old ammo pouch and bullets or leave them in the bank.

Without dungeons you'll fall about 2 levels behind (by an estimate from beta data, the dungeon quests at 22–29 are worth about 75 thousand experience): part of that is covered by western Ashenvale, Dangerous![28] in Hillsbrad (step), the southern Barrens and the backup quests in Thousand Needles (step), and the rest you'll make up killing mobs along the way.

An Alliance rogue waits until you're locked in a fight with a footman: War Stomp, a step back and Freezing Trap at your feet; once he's frozen, run 20 yards away and only then send your pet and shoot: any damage breaks the freeze.
On the beta a chase often breaks off at a zone border: the player jumps into another layer of the world and vanishes. Running away - run for the border; chasing - don't follow across it.
The wolf's only attack skill is Bite; the cat also has Claw. According to Petopia, Giant Moss Creeper (found all over Hillsbrad) knows Bite (rank 4; your pet has to be level 24), and Gray Bear knows Claw (rank 3: for a cat or a bear). With your own pet in the stable (step), tame one of these beasts and fight with it until the chat says “You have learned…”. Once you've learned it, abandon it and tame the next teacher, and keep the last one with you until the Mill (step): don't go to Durnholde without a pet. On the way - Elder Gray Bear (25–26) : a bear is the sturdiest pet and hits three targets at once (in a dungeon keep it on one). Exactly where Deathstalker Masoj stands is still being pinned down in the beta data - follow the quest marker. South of the vantage point, in Dun Garok itself , there are level 28–30 dwarves, and the riflemen shoot from range: approach the vantage point from the north and don't go down.
How to do this quest - Scout Support
According to a tester's comment, the quest only opens after the second “Battle of Hillsbrad” (level 25): if High Executor Darthalia doesn't offer it, turn that one in and ask again. Deathstalker Masoj himself stands alone on a hill north of Nethander Stead .
The peaks, according to testers' comments: on the hills above Dun Garok , on the plateau above Durnholde , and above the yeti cave , not inside it. Level 33 mountain lions roam by the third one - approach carefully.
Drops from:Vial of Innocent Blood - Syndicate Shadow Mage
The Syndicate stand close together - pull them one at a time with a shot from the edge. The shadow mages cast from range: shoot and step around a corner - they'll come right up to your pet. Two came at you? The second one gets Freezing Trap at your feet; three - add War Stomp too.
How to do this quest - The Rescue
The keys aren't interchangeable, the pairs are “jailor → prisoner”: Jailor Eston → Drull, Jailor Marlgen → Tog'thar. The jailors spawn near the prisoners, sometimes on the road to them.
The key says “Failed!” - that's normal, click again.
The Rescue[22]: the only reward a hunter might want is Recipe: Big Bear Steak, if you're leveling Cooking; otherwise take whichever sells for more. You'll turn in Return to Thunder Bluff[23] at Thunder Bluff (at 27). Your own pet in the stable (step)? Abandon the teacher and take yours out - Theodore Mont Claire, then teach it the new ranks (Beast Training). Want to swap it for a mountain lion (step)? Don't take it out yet.
⚔︎Questing loop: “Valuable Vantages”, “Battle of Hillsbrad”, “Elixir of Pain” and “Dangerous!”
Starving Mountain Lion (23–24) is a cat that according to Petopia attacks every 1.2 seconds: nothing on the route before 30 attacks faster. These cats roam the hills between the Mill and the fields - you'll run into them on the way. Want to swap your pet? Tame one instead of killing it: your old one is already in the stable (step). The Hillsbrad Footmen block and shield bash. Don't go into Southshore.

Stanley - make him drink the elixir: turn in ?Elixir of Pain[24]. South of the fields, in the mine - Miner Hackett (the lower mine entrance is at ): the last target of Dangerous![28].
Drops from:Hillsbrad Human Skull - Farmer Ray, Syndicate Shadow Mage, Syndicate Rogue and others
Miner Hackett is level 29 but not elite: level 26 hunters with a pet have killed him solo. He spawns in different spots in the eastern part of the mine. The miners stand in clumps and respawn fast: pull them one at a time and drag them toward the exit. Leave Foreman Bonds (level 30) alone - according to players, he calls two helpers. Start with full mana: your pet holds Miner Hackett, and the second miner gets Freezing Trap at your feet. He's 3–4 levels above you: you miss him more, he dodges and parries more often, and the fight is long. Keep Mend Pet ready, and if he gets to you - War Stomp and a step back. The miners are Hillsbrad residents too: their skulls count for Souvenirs of Death[25]. Can't do it at all? Drop Dangerous![28]: the route doesn't come back here.
How to do this quest - Elixir of Pain
Once you make Stanley drink, he turns into a level 24 monster. Kill him - about 700 experience. Clear the farmers and footmen around him first.
Dangerous![28]: take Bow of Plunder from the rewards: 11.4 DPS, +2 Agility and +2 Stamina, 2 DPS more than Heavy Recurve Bow. Sticking with the gun? It's still worth more than the other rewards: sell it. Leave the rest of the Battle of Hillsbrad (Battle of Hillsbrad[26] and on) for 30+.
Hillsbrad is done - hearth to Undercity and take the zeppelin home to Kalimdor. The hunter trainer is waiting in Orgrimmar: the zeppelin lands by the city gates.

The tower near Brill has two zeppelins: you want Zapetta - to Orgrimmar. Hin Denburg goes to Grom'gol.
Undercity: went to Shadowfang and still have The Book of Ur[26] in your log? The Apothecarium, Keeper Bel'dugur : turn it in. Arrows - Abigail Sawyer , bullets - Nicholas Atwood , if you didn't buy them in Tarren Mill. Sell wool and hides at the auction house: training at 24 and 26 in Orgrimmar costs about 5.
Undercity has no hunter trainer - you'll learn your level 24 and 26 skills in Orgrimmar (step).

Elementals are neither beasts nor humanoids: Serpent Sting works on them, but Scare Beast doesn't. Some of the harpies finish off your pet when its health is low - keep Mend Pet ready. The rare elite Sister Riven (28) - go around her. With the Improved Tracking talent, turn on Track Elementals by the elementals.

On the same loop you'll find Ghostpaw Alpha (27–28) - a wolf that according to Petopia attacks every 1.3 seconds and knows Bite (rank 4); its Furious Howl gives melee attack power to the group. Nearby - Elder Ashenvale Bear (25–26) : knows Claw (rank 4) - for a cat or a bear.
How to do this quest - Shadumbra's Head
The panther walks in a circle - it's easier to stand at and wait.

Je'neu of the Earthen Ring[27]: take Deftkin Belt from the rewards: leather, +4 Agility, +3 Stamina and +12 attack power. No Zoram'gar flight path? It's about 8–10 minutes on foot (an estimate), with Aspect of the Cheetah on the whole way; give Astranaar a wide berth: the Alliance guards will attack.
⚔︎Questing loop: “Between a Rock and a Thistlefur”, “Troll Charm” and “Freedom to Ruul”
Before the escort, clear the path to the village exit - you'll be attacked on the way. Kill the shamans first. From 28 you have Frost Trap for crowds like this: drop the trap at your feet, and the mobs around you are slowed by 60%.
How to do this quest - Troll Charm
In the cave the mobs stand in twos and threes and respawn quickly - watch your back. The charm chests respawn quickly too: you can circle one hall.
The furbolgs come in twos and threes: your pet holds one, Multi-Shot on all of them, the one that reaches you gets Freezing Trap at your feet - and after that you don't need Multi-Shot until you've finished the rest: it would wake the frozen one. If it's really bad - Rapid Fire and War Stomp. Start with full health and mana.
How to do this quest - King of the Foulweald
First kill the furbolgs around the mound. Then stand on the mound and use the banner from your bags.
After the banner, two always come, and Chief Murgut appears on a timer, not after they die. Don't waste cooldowns on the first two.
Half the dungeon is underwater: watch your breath bar, and fight in the water only by the air bubbles. The tank interrupts the naga priestesses and oracles; if one comes up close to you - War Stomp. Learned Bows? The bosses drop Naga Heartpiercer and the new Fallenroot Longbow: roll Need on those and on leather with Agility.
Turn-ins and the trainer at 28 · a new Forever camp on Skywatcher Plateau
0 of 7
Turn-ins of the Stonetalon and Ashenvale quests, the trainer at 28 - and something new in Forever: in northwestern Mulgore, above Thunder Bluff, an Earthen Ring camp on Skywatcher Plateau. Three level 30 quests worth ~2.5 thousand experience each, level 27–29 mobs - spiders, which means beasts.
Don't forget in this section
The Broodmother[31] is an elite level 31 spider: group only. No group? Don't take it - the quest doesn't unlock anything.
Frost Trap is set in combat at your feet: for 30 seconds everything around is slowed by 60%. With it, a pack of three or four mobs won't reach you while your pet holds one, and Multi-Shot hits them all at once. Training at 28 costs about 420. Not 28 yet? You'll learn them at 30 (step).
Thunder Bluff has two elevators - on the southwest and northeast sides. The plateau is northwest of the bluff: take either one down and go around the bluff (which elevator is closer hasn't been checked yet).

⚔︎Questing loop: “Defending the Dead”, “Stronger than Steel”, “Talkin' bout Toxins, Mon” and “The Broodmother”
The spiders come in packs: pet on one, Frost Trap at your feet, Multi-Shot on all of them. Spiders are beasts: Scare Beast takes an extra one out for 10 seconds.
A 12-slot bag comes in especially handy for a hunter: the quiver, arrows and pet food eat up space. The Broodmother[31]: the reward is Transformative Cocoon: it absorbs damage and stuns you for 5 seconds, then gives +60% speed for 8 seconds. Good for escaping.

About 15 thousand experience near Taurajo, on the way to Thousand Needles. Useful if you're short of 30 or you've got a group for Razorfen Kraul: there you get Willix the Importer[30] and Monkey Ring (+5 Agility).
Kuz is a mage: Frostbolt, Frost Nova and Fire Blast. Let your pet hold him up close while you shoot with full mana; caught in Frost Nova? Keep shooting, you're at range anyway. If he gets to you, War Stomp interrupts his cast.
Monkey Ring - +5 Agility and +5 Spirit. The packs here are big: from 28 you have Frost Trap - trap at your feet, and the mobs that run at the healer get slowed. The geomancers and Charlga Razorflank heal themselves - the tank interrupts them. The rare Blind Hunter sometimes drops Nightstalker Bow - 17 DPS, stronger than any bow on the route (you need the Bows skill).
How to do this quest - Willix the Importer

The pet trainer teaches pet skills separately from the hunter trainer - visit him too.
Level 30 - battlegrounds. On the beta the new battleground Darkspear Islands, 15 vs 15, opens at 30. Battlemasters in the capitals queue you, and there's also a portal in the Darkspear Raiders camp north of Ratchet . Don't fall into the water - testers complain about sharks.
Feign Death in PvP: your opponent loses you as a target, and the spell he's casting at you fails (as in Classic; not tested on the beta). Then Freezing Trap at your feet, run off while he's frozen and shoot from range again.
Feign Death: 30-second cooldown, 80 mana. Mobs lose you and go for your pet; sometimes the feign doesn't work (it happened in Classic) - then Freezing Trap at your feet right away. A really bad pull? Feign and dismiss your pet (Dismiss Pet): the mobs walk away, catch your breath and call it back. Lie there for 6 minutes and you die for real. Aspect of the Beast - +50 melee attack power: Survival needs it, for the rest it's optional; melee Survival also wants Counterattack (rank 2), 76. A Vengeful Fate[34]: a hunter doesn't need the rewards - take whichever sells for more.
On the beta a pet sometimes “forgets” a skill after the stable or logging out: check the pet bar. Don't reset all its skills at the pet trainer - according to testers, the fast attack goes with them.

Dungeons: what to pick up in advance
Quests offered far from the entrance, and how a hunter plays in a group
In Forever, experience from dungeon mobs is lower, while dungeon quests give 2–3 times the experience of normal ones (even after the beta bonus was cut in half). Going in without quests makes little sense - collect them in advance, but not earlier than needed: quests “for later” clog your log. A hunter in a group brings damage and control: the tank leads, you don't pull, and your pet hits the same target as the tank.
Hunter in a group: the short version
Your pet, raid marks, traps and threat
Turn off your pet's Growl and set it to Defensive or Passive: let it attack only on your command. A bear hits three targets at once and breaks other players' crowd control - in a dungeon keep it on one target.
Hit the marked target: Skull first, Cross second. Your Hunter's Mark goes on the same target. Pulling is the tank's job; if you've agreed that you pull, shoot the marked mob and get behind the tank right away.
In Forever traps are set in combat, but only at your feet, 30-second cooldown: from 20 - Freezing Trap. Step aside, set it and bring the “second” mob to you. Don't drop a trap under the pack on the tank.
Multi-Shot (18) - only on packs with nothing sheeped or frozen.
Pulled a mob off the tank? Don't run: your pet will take it, and you stop shooting for a couple of seconds. From 20 - Disengage (lowers your threat, twice as strong in Forever), from 30 - Feign Death.
A pack ran at the healer? War Stomp: up to 5 mobs nearby are stunned for 2 seconds, and the tank has time to pick them up. A mob runs at your healer while the tank is busy: Distracting Shot (12) pulls it onto you - your pet will meet it.
Etiquette: a hunter rolls Need on guns, bows, leather and staves with Agility. Staves with only Intellect and Spirit are for mages and priests.
No group - don't take a single quest from here. For a hunter: Oggleflint sometimes drops Barbaric Crossbow, but only Archibald in Undercity teaches Crossbows.
Wailing Caverns
17–24 · the Barrens, the oasis west of the Crossroads
By our estimate, the three quests give about 20 thousand experience in Forever - more than half a level. The run itself - at 23–24 (step). Slavering Worg roams inside - a wolf that testers tame for its fast attack. Kill the worgen casters first: hunters have no interrupts.
Changing Tastes[31] - Borstan, Orgrimmar If you're going there with a group. The reward is a recipe for experience food
Dragonmaw Rumors[31] → Open the Maw[31] - Hammerfall → the Deathstalker agent in the WetlandsAt 30+, on the way through the Arathi Highlands
There's no flight path in the Wetlands: the Horde walks there from Tarren Mill or Hammerfall across Thandol Span. For a hunter, Golemsight Long Gun drops there - a gun with 16.6 DPS and +6 Agility.

What to learn, what to tame and what to shoot with - up to level 30
What changed in Forever: your pet gets part of your attack power (about 10% according to beta data) and your full crit chance, and buffs from other players no longer work on it. You can only tame beasts of your level and lower. Aimed Shot is taught by the trainer from 20 (it used to be a talent), but it's weaker than in Classic: a 2-second cast, 6-second cooldown. Multi-Shot now has a 0.5-second cast, the same cooldown, and the two share it. Traps can be set in combat too, but only at your feet, 30-second cooldown; you can have one fire trap and one frost trap out at the same time. Since October 15, Auto Shot only fires if you've been standing still for half a second: take a step and the shot is slightly delayed. Arcane Shot is 10–54% stronger (rank 1 gains the most), Hunter's Mark 30% stronger, and rank 1 Serpent Sting is half as strong. Bullets and arrows are still used up, the ammo pouch and quiver give +10% ranged attack speed, and your gun doesn't fire within 8 yards.
Only for melee Survival: the first rank comes from a talent
Hunter trainers on the tauren route: Lanka Farshot in Camp Narache (only up to level 6), Yaw Sharpmane in Bloodhoof Village, and on Hunter Rise in Thunder Bluff - Holt Thunderhorn , Kary Thunderhorn and Urek Thunderhorn ; in Orgrimmar - Ormak Grimshot in the Valley of Honor. The Barrens, Stonetalon, Undercity, Silverpine, Hillsbrad, Ashenvale and Thousand Needles have no hunter trainers, and the only pet trainers on the route are in Bloodhoof Village (Reban Freerunner ), Thunder Bluff (Hesuwa Thunderhorn ) and Orgrimmar (Xao'tsu ). That's why the route passes a trainer on its own: Narache until 6, Bloodhoof at 8 and 10, Thunder Bluff at 11–12, Orgrimmar at 13, Thunder Bluff at 16 and 20, then Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff. All training for 1–30 costs about 18 gold according to Wowhead; without the optional stuff (the eyes, Distracting Shot, Scorpid Sting and tracking if you didn't take Improved Tracking) - about 12.
Taming takes 20 seconds, and the whole time you have no armor. Start with full mana away from other mobs; damage to the beast breaks the taming.
Only beasts of your level and lower (Forever, since September 24). A pet levels only from kills and never gets ahead of you; one that falls behind catches up faster. Don't take a beast 3–4 levels lower “just in case” - it will miss a lot.
You can't tame a new beast while you have a pet: leave the old one in the stable while you're at a stable master - out in the field you'll have to abandon it. The stable has 2 slots, the third pet is with you; a stable slot costs money (as in Classic; the beta price is still being checked). Stable masters on the way: Seikwa (Bloodhoof Village), Bulrug (Thunder Bluff), Sikwa (the Crossroads), Reggifuz (Ratchet), Kelsuwa (Camp Taurajo), Xon'cha (Orgrimmar), Gereck (Sun Rock Retreat), Anya Maulray (Undercity), Sarah Goode (the Sepulcher), Theodore Mont Claire (Tarren Mill), Qeeju (Splintertree Post), Awenasa (Freewind Post).
Track Beasts shows beasts on the minimap - that makes rare ones easier to find.
Food and happiness
What they eat and how often to feed them
A new pet is unhappy - feed it right away: Feed Pet and food in your bags. You can only feed out of combat.
Happiness affects damage: happy - 125%, content - 100%, unhappy - 75% (as in Classic). On the beta it barely drops over time, only when your pet dies; this may be fixed by launch.
What they eat (according to beta guides): cats, wolves, raptors, scorpids and spiders - meat (cats fish too); bears and boars - anything; wind serpents - bread, cheese and fish; turtles and crabs - fish, bread, fruit and mushrooms; tallstriders - cheese, mushrooms and fruit; hyenas - meat and fruit.
At 20–30, meat along the route is sold by Gahroot (Camp Taurajo), Borstan (Orgrimmar), Innkeeper Jayka (Sun Rock Retreat), Innkeeper Shay (Tarren Mill), Innkeeper Kaylisk (Splintertree Post) and Turhaw (Freewind Post). The innkeepers in Undercity and the Sepulcher have mushrooms and bread, no meat: feed a cat or wolf with the meat you bought in Orgrimmar at 22.
Whether a pet eats the raw meat that drops from mobs hasn't been tested on the beta - hover Feed Pet over a piece and the tooltip will tell you.
Pet died? Revive Pet (10 seconds and all your mana) only after the fight; feed it after reviving.
Pet skills
How to teach them and what to use
Every family has Claw or Bite (cats have both), Growl and its own ability: wolf - Furious Howl, cat - Prowl (from 30), wind serpent - Lightning Breath, boar - Charge, scorpid - Scorpid Poison. New in Forever: raptors get a bleed, bears a three-target strike, spiders a web, crabs a slow, crocolisks -25% healing on the target for 6 seconds, hyenas a slow with a bleed, tallstriders an armor reduction on the target.
Higher ranks of Claw and Bite are learned as in Classic: tame a beast that knows the rank you need, fight with it until the chat says “You have learned…”, then bring back your own pet and teach it with training points (Beast Training). Put your own pet in the stable meanwhile. On October 1 Blizzard adjusted the ranks of some beasts, so the classic “who teaches what” tables may not match: from 24, check with Beast Lore.
Solo, keep Growl on autocast and turn Cower off (right-click its icon on the pet bar): it drops your pet's threat, and the mob runs at you. In a group, turn Growl off.
Bullets, arrows, ammo pouch and quiver
Every shot uses one
Light Shot (+1.5 DPS) → Heavy Shot from 10 (+3.5) → Solid Shot from 25 (+7.5). Arrows, if you switched to a bow (step), go the same way: Sharp Arrow (+3.5) → Razor Arrow from 25 (+7.5). Switch as soon as you hit the level: it's free damage. At 25 you're in Hillsbrad - Kayren Soothallow in Tarren Mill sells both kinds (step).
A stack is 200 bullets, roughly 25–35 mobs. Take 4–5 stacks per trip: in the Barrens bullets are only sold at the Crossroads and in Ratchet.
An ammo pouch takes a bag slot but gives +10% ranged attack speed. The first one, Small Ammo Pouch (6 slots), you have from the start - don't sell it. Small Shot Pouch (8 slots) gives the same speed, just more room; leatherworkers make the 8-slot Small Leather Ammo Pouch. An ammo pouch only holds bullets and a quiver only holds arrows: if you switch to a bow, you need a quiver. Jin'sora in Orgrimmar: Medium Quiver (10 slots, from 10).
From character creation a tauren hunter knows Guns, One-Handed Axes and Daggers. In Forever all hunters got Daggers (according to the beta 1.60.1 client tables; in Classic you learned them from a weapon master) - check the Skills tab in your character window. Your starting weapons are Old Blunderbuss and Worn Axe.
A new weapon skill starts at 1, and at first you'll miss: don't learn Bows before 22 - the guns on the route hit just as hard. Don't want to level a new skill? Stay with the gun until 31: at 26–30 your Auto Shot will be 5–15% weaker, by our estimate (weapon damage is only part of a shot, the rest comes from the arrows or bullets and your attack power).
Armor - leather with Agility. A hunter can't wear mail until 40 (according to the beta client data).
What vendors sell comes from the game files: the stock on the beta may differ.

Combos that save you
Your pet holds the mob - you're safe. Don't shoot before it has built threat.
Mend Pet - when your pet is below half health and the mob is still alive.
A mob at your feet: War Stomp - a 2-second stun on everything nearby, step 8 yards away and shoot again; Wing Clip and a step back; from 16 - Immolation Trap at your feet, from 20 - Freezing Trap at your feet (a 10-second freeze, damage breaks it); Disengage lowers your threat, and the mob goes to your pet.
Endurance: +5% health and +2% critical strike damage - a tauren survives a mistake that would kill another hunter, and crits hit a bit harder.
The mob is on your pet and you're low on health? Bandage up: only damage to you interrupts a bandage. Hunters have no healing of their own, and tauren have no racial one either.
First Aid is a must: bandages heal without mana, and a hunter needs mana for shots and Mend Pet. Vira Younghoof in Bloodhoof Village, Pand Stonebinder in Thunder Bluff. In Forever First Aid also makes healing potions.
A hunter's professions are Skinning and Leatherworking: you kill beasts anyway, and a leatherworker makes gear with Agility. Details in the “Professions” section.
After that, Horde hunters have no class quests until 50 (according to Wowhead and QuestieDB). Skills for 20–30 come straight from the trainer: Thunder Bluff at 20 (step), Orgrimmar at 22 (step) and at 26 - the level 24 and 26 skills (step), Thunder Bluff at 28 (step) and 30 (step).
Talents 10–30
4 builds with a talent tree and the order by level
The main one is “Beast Mastery: Pet Up Front”: Unleashed Fury at 20–24, Summon Hawk at 25. There's also “Marksmanship: With a Pet”, “Survival Lite: Tracker” for careful players and “Survival: Melee” for later.
All builds, the tree and the point order are in the “Leveling talents” section.

Professions and camping
What to take, where to learn it and what to collect - up to level 30
Advice for a hunter: Skinning + Leatherworking, plus First Aid and Cooking. You kill beasts anyway, so the hides come by themselves, and a leatherworker makes the new Forever Brawler's gear with Agility, plus Small Leather Ammo Pouch. The second option is Mining + Engineering: an engineer makes his own guns, so it's the path for anyone who doesn't switch to a bow (step). Skinning + Mining makes the most money for the mount at 40. You get a little income even without Herbalism: Cultivation grows a copy of an herb next to you, and the tauren picks it himself.
Leatherworking: Chaw Stronghide in Bloodhoof Village and Mak in Thunder Bluff - up to Journeyman; Tarn and Una in Thunder Bluff and Krulmoo Fullmoon in Camp Taurajo - Expert too.
Apprentice - up to 75. Journeyman - from skill 50, 5, up to 150. Expert - from skill 125, 50, up to 225.
Brawler's leatherbeta data
West of the Crossroads there's a new Durotar Supply and Logistics camp. Fill the crates you find in the world (from level 10) with hides, ore or herbs and turn them in for a currency.
Pawani in the same camp sells Brawler's patterns for 30 of that currency each: belt (12), gloves (15), boots (17), hood (20: +8 Agility, +10 Stamina), tunic (22), leggings (25). Method calls the hood one of the best leveling items in the beta.
Camp buffs last an hour: the Skinning camp stool (+2% crit - your pet too, since it takes your crit), the Leatherworking tent (rested bonus), the Mining lodestone (+attack power), the First Aid kit (+Stamina). They don't stack with similar class buffs; the exact item names in the client may differ.
Sit by any campfire for a minute, even someone else's - you get a buff for an hour.
Cooking and First Aid
In Forever any cooked food gives +5% experience from kills for 15 minutes - always eat. Split the meat from mobs: some for Cooking, some for pet food.
20–30: Medium Hide and Medium Leather - for a leatherworker's Brawler's gear, the rest to the auction house.
Money
Hunter training for 1–30 costs about 18 gold, plus guns and bullets: a hunter needs money more than most. Sell gray items at every stop, and hides and cloth at the Thunder Bluff auction house.
Aim for about 10 gold saved by level 30: riding at 40 will most likely cost about 100 gold, as in Classic.

What's new in Forever
Only what matters for this route
Beta data (build 1.60.1, as of October 16, 2026, beta level cap 30): the Wowhead Forever database, the beta client data, Blizzard's hunter article (September 30), the beta developer notes, the Questie database and the RestedXP route for Forever. Things may change before the November 4 launch.
What stayed the samebeta data
The old Mulgore and Barrens quests are all still there, and neither their experience nor the experience per level has changed.
The hunter class quests at 1 and 10 are the same as in Classic, but the rewards differ (according to Wowhead): Taming the Beast[10], the third taming quest, teaches Tame Beast right away, and Training the Beast[10] gives Beast Training. Horde hunters have no other class quests until 50.
Tauren don't get any new hunter quests: the new Forever hunter quests are given on Zephras Isle, at the Skyborne start, or to the Alliance.
No new flight paths for the Horde in 1–30, and no zeppelin from Thunder Bluff either: you get to the Eastern Kingdoms through Orgrimmar. The hearthstone is once an hour.
Mounts still come at level 40 (the first one is free, training costs 100 gold).
Mulgore and Thunder Bluffbeta data
The Mulgore map was rebuilt: the coordinates don't match the old guides. This site uses Forever coordinates.
Ruins of Lordaeron - above Undercity, 6 bosses in any order.
Excavation Site: Wetlands - 26–31, outdoors in the southern Wetlands. For the Horde it starts in Hammerfall.
City of Dalaran - the dungeon isn't open on the beta yet, and every attunement step for the Horde requires level 30.
The hunter in Foreverofficial
Your pet gets stats from your gear: part of your attack power and your full crit chance; buffs from other players don't work on it. You can only tame beasts of your level and lower. A new pet family - foxes (there are none on the Horde 1–30 route).
Every pet family has its own ability (bears hit three targets, spiders root, raptors apply a bleed and so on); the shared ones are Claw or Bite and Growl.
Aimed Shot - from the trainer at 20, 2-second cast, 6-second cooldown; Multi-Shot - 0.5-second cast, and they share the cooldown. Traps - in combat, at your feet, 30-second cooldown. Disengage drops twice as much threat and no longer takes you out of combat.
Still here: ammo (it gets used up), quivers and ammo pouches (+10% ranged attack speed) and the 8-yard “dead zone”. Every hunter now knows Daggers from character creation (1.60.1 client tables).
Tauren: racial abilitiesbeta data
War Stomp - since October 15 the cooldown is shorter: 1.5 minutes instead of 2; still the same 2-second stun on up to 5 enemies within 8 yards. For a hunter it's a way out of the “dead zone” and the only way to interrupt a spell.
Endurance - +5% health and +2% critical strike damage and healing (since October 15; it used to be +1% hit).
Plainsrunning (new): while you run, your speed grows by 1% every 5 seconds, up to +30%; damage and stopping reduce the bonus, and stepping in place no longer keeps it up. It doesn't stack with Aspect of the Cheetah. On a mount - another +3%, and that stacks with other mounted speed bonuses.
Cultivation is now a button: grow a copy of an herb next to you and pick it without Herbalism, once per herb.
Nature Resistance isn't on the Forever racial list. The data comes from the Wowhead Forever tooltips as of October 16; Blizzard promised to revisit racials, so the numbers may change.
What testers sayfrom players
The hottest debate is pet attack speed: by players' measurements, fast pets hit harder (a tallstrider attacking every 1.3 seconds does 25 DPS, a normal one 18). Blizzard hasn't answered, and it may be evened out before launch.
Pet happiness barely drops and loyalty grows fast - some like it, others ask to bring back pet care.
Every beta people ask to remove the “dead zone”, and every time most of them answer: “it's part of the class”.
The stable has few slots (2 + the pet with you): people are asking for more.
PvP and rulesetsofficial
Rulesets to choose from: “Normal” - PvP only if you want it (/pvp); “PvP” - your flag turns on by itself in contested and enemy zones, and one faction per account; “RP” - same as Normal. Hardcore comes after launch.
Horde lands on the route: Mulgore, the Barrens, Tirisfal, Silverpine. Contested: Stonetalon, Hillsbrad, Ashenvale, Thousand Needles.
Battlegrounds: Warsong Gulch from 10, Arathi Basin from 20, the new Darkspear Islands (15 vs 15) from 30, Alterac Valley from 51. Brackets of 10 levels. On the beta, according to testers, only the level 30 battleground is open.
For hunters: against a melee fighter - Concussive Shot, your pet, Wing Clip and a step back; from 20 - Freezing Trap at your feet. War Stomp - 2 seconds on everyone nearby: interrupt a spell or get back to range. Aspect of the Cheetah in a contested zone only if nobody's around.
Experience and conveniencesofficial
Cooked food gives +5% experience from kills. Camping buffs, the tent and the sleeping bag.
Dungeon quests give 2–3 times the experience of normal ones.
There's no automatic dungeon finder - only the bulletin board, and meeting stones don't summon.
Mobs respawn faster in Hillsbrad, Ashenvale and Thousand Needles.
The Legacy system: account-wide bonuses unlock once your first character reaches 25.

Tips and common mistakes
The hearthstone, dangerous mobs, what not to forget
1 - Camp Narache. 12 - the Crossroads (step), until level 20: you hearth back from Orgrimmar at 13 (step) and from Thunder Bluff at 16 (step), and at 20 from the Stonetalon border (step). 22 - Undercity (step): from Hillsbrad you hearth to the zeppelin home (step). 27 - Splintertree Post (step), 29 - Freewind Post (step).
For short distances - a death run, but only until 10: after that you often have to revive your pet after resurrecting (Revive Pet - all your mana), and from 11 there's also “Resurrection Sickness” and −25% durability.
Hillsbrad: the Dun Garok dwarves (28–30) and Miner Hackett (29) in the mine. Ashenvale: Keeper Ordanus with two guards, the rare Eck'alom - stuns for 15 seconds.
Hunters have no interrupts - kill casters and healers first, and War Stomp interrupts a cast next to you.
Common mistakes
Shooting right after you command your pet - the mob runs at you. Wait 1–2 seconds.
Standing in the “dead zone” and mashing buttons: your gun doesn't fire within 8 yards. War Stomp or Wing Clip - and a step back.
Fighting with Aspect of the Cheetah still on: a hit dazes you, and the mob catches up.
Not switching bullets at 10 and 25: minus 10–20% damage. And selling the starter ammo pouch: without it you shoot 10% slower.
