A Horde Skyborne Rogue has island business to finish before heading for Orgrimmar. This step-by-step route covers Zephras Isle, the Barrens, and the Horde leveling zones through 30. Class quests, usable weapons and rewards, professions, and purchases are placed along the way. You'll spend less time wondering which upgrade is worth the detour.
Updated November 4, 2026 for Blizzard's November 2 changes: all four talent orders rebuilt, and new trainer abilities at 18 and 24.

What to install from CurseForge for Forever: the useful and the fun
Maps inside dungeons:Dungeon Crawler Forever shows floors, passages, bosses and quests. Open it with /dm. Its data changes with the beta: double-check quest requirements in game. More conveniences, screenshots and highlight commands - in the useful addons guide.
How to install. In the CurseForge app, add the game with the “+” button and point it to your Forever client folder - a Forever tab appears. Manually on the beta: the _classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns folder. Addons for regular Classic won't work - you need a file marked Forever (1.60.1). ★ - our pick.
Already in the game - no addon needed: coordinates on the map and minimap (turn them on in the settings), quest objectives on the map (the “Enhanced” template at first login, or the quest objectives option), a damage meter, a swing timer, the Cooldown Manager, one combined bag, an equipment manager and a modern auction house. Not in the game: a threat meter, markers for quests you haven't picked up yet, and a /way command.
Quests and map
★ Questie - who gives quests and where the objectives are, on the map and minimap. It still lacks some of the new Forever quests.
★ TomTom - an arrow to a point. The coordinates on this site copy as a /way command for it.
★ Leatrix Maps - reveals unexplored parts of the map, shows dungeon entrances, and the map can be enlarged.
Forever Quest Tint - tints the text of new Forever quests, so you see at a glance what's new.
Conveniences
★ Leatrix Plus - auto quest turn-in, junk selling, repairs, fast loot and dozens of small things. There's a separate version for Forever.
★ Baganator - proper bags and bank: the built-in combined bag can't be moved. A similar one - Bagnon.
★ Auctionator - posts auctions quickly, remembers prices and shows them in tooltips.
★ Platynator - draws neat bars above mobs and marks the ones you need for a quest. Very handy while leveling.
Professions
★ GatherLite - herbs, ore and fish on the map: it already ships with more than 26 thousand points made for Forever.
GatherMate2 - the same, but it only remembers points as you gather them yourself.
For fun: voiceover and dialogue
★ Spoken - English voiceover for quests, books and zones. On the Forever forums it gets the most praise: “like an audiobook”. More in the addons guide.
★ Immersion - movie-style NPC dialogue instead of the usual quest window.
Optional
Details! or ThreatClassic2 - threat in dungeons: the built-in damage meter doesn't show it.
Easy Experience Bar - experience per hour and how much is left to the next level.
Dungeon Journal - dungeon quests and loot: Forever has no dungeon journal of its own.
WeakAuras has no Forever version; use the fork ForeverAuras instead (it can do what the built-in Cooldown Manager sees).
For mail, instead of Postal try Forever Mail: recipient picker, mail history and attachment lists. More in the general addons guide.
Zygor and ElvUI aren't installed through CurseForge.
Combat “helpers” that do calculations are banned in Forever, as in the modern game: addons may display, but not calculate.
For Rogues
You no longer need an energy tick tracker: in Forever energy regenerates smoothly.
Cooldowns are shown by the built-in Cooldown Manager - it has supported Rogues since October 1.
Combo points right on your target - Combo Points on Plate: the points are drawn on the health bar above the mob, so you don't have to look away at your own portrait. Change the look and color with /cpp. The beta still forgets addon settings after a restart, so the addon keeps them in a macro called "CPP Settings" - don't delete it.
Poison reminder - NoPoizen, optional from level 25 once you learn poisons: it beeps when a poison wears off.
⏱︎
How not to lose hours while leveling
Small things about your route, mobs, mana, and speed that add up to hours over a whole leveling run
Route
Running around eats roughly a third of all leveling time. So grab quests in bundles and finish them in one trip, with at least two or three objectives close together on the map.
Don't be afraid to drop a quest with a rare drop, an NPC who isn't there, or an objective on the far side of the zone. Leave escorts for the end of the loop, since they usually run through the same mobs the nearby quests need.
Heading to the next spot with full mana and health? Kill mobs on the way. You regenerate anyway, and a couple of extra mobs on every run adds up to hours by the end.
While a mob is dying, start walking to the next one. Finish off the last few percent with auto attacks or a wand instead of a big spell.
Which mobs
Green mobs die fast and are barely a threat, but in Forever they give 4-20% less XP than in Classic. Blizzard says that's intended. Look at XP per hour, not at the color.
Yellow and green mobs are a fine pick. Orange and red ones are almost always worse. There's no XP penalty, but you miss more, fights drag on, and your mana and health melt faster. The one exception is elite group quests, if you've got a group.
Supplies and timing
Always carry food and water, or you'll get stuck in the middle of a mob camp with empty bars. Addons that auto-sell gray items and auto-repair at a vendor save time too.
Use your Hearthstone and long-cooldown abilities on cooldown, not "for later." The perfect moment might never come.
Spirit is useful for everyone while leveling, because you spend less time sitting between fights. Got an item with Spirit that's a bit weaker on other stats? I'd keep it.
Build and trainer
Leveling talents aren't level 60 talents. While leveling, you're your own tank and healer, so defensive and recovery talents beat an extra percent of damage.
The Legacy perk "Thrill of Adventure" gives back up to 5% health and mana after you kill a mob that gives XP.
New ranks show up every 2 levels, but not every trip to the trainer is worth it. Check what you'll actually get, and don't fly to a capital for a rank that barely changes anything.
People
Buff someone who's passing by, and they'll probably return the favor.
Elite quests go faster with a partner, and on PvP servers it's a lot safer too.
Speed
Use Sprint on long runs whenever it's off cooldown. Saving it "just in case" doesn't pay off.
✦
Leveling talents
Pick a build for 10-30 and follow its point order
You start spending points at 10 and have 21 by 30. I'd pick Combat: Main-Hand Axe. You start with a dagger and already know Swords and Maces. Use those on the island, then learn Axes from Sayoc on your first Orgrimmar visit. Reset with Rogue trainer Shenthul in Orgrimmar. Beta resets cost 1 if you haven't reset recently. At launch, expect 1 gold or more. I'd keep that money for training by settling on a tree early. Hover a talent for its tooltip. The calculator button opens the same build and point order.
Combat: Main-Hand Axemain0 / 21 / 0A forgiving solo build that works with any slow weapon. You'll have short recovery breaks and quicker runs between pulls. Icy Veins, Wowhead, Warcraft Tavern, and Mobalytics use the same point allocation.
Spend less energy on Sinister Strike and finish harder with Eviscerate. Most mobs won't need many cycles. At 20, Riposte gives you a cheap hit after a parry. At 30, Blade Flurry lets you hit two targets, your only multi-target attack before 40.
The rotation is simple, mostly two buttons, and you won't have multi-target damage until 30. Beta players also complained about low Rogue damage-meter results at 30 across the specs.
Weapons: main hand - the slowest, hardest-hitting axe (Orgrimmar sells them at 11, 15 and 19, the list is in the "Rogue" section), off hand - a fast weapon with the best DPS, usually a dagger. Since November 2, Dual Wield Specialization sits in the 5th row and doesn't fit before 30, so take Aggression at 26-28 (+15% to Sinister Strike and Eviscerate) and Composure at 29 for the new Poised.
Assassination: crits and poisonsfor poison fans21 / 0 / 0Use Sinister Strike with lots of crits and let poisons add damage. Mutilate costs 31 points since November 2 and only opens at 40, so take Venom at 30 for the new Shank.
Pros: early points add crit, and the first hit after a kill almost always crits, so mobs drop one after another. Vigor adds 10 energy from 22, Cold Blood comes at 25, and Improved Poisons applies poisons more often from 26.
Cons:Mutilate costs 31 points since November 2 and only opens at 40. Endurance, Riposte, and Blade Flurry aren't in this build. A beta tester measured about 20 DPS less than with Combat.
Weapons: a slow axe in the main hand makes Sinister Strike hit harder. You only need two daggers at 40, for Mutilate.
Cons: solo, the mob faces you - testers joke that "Backstab is now Sinister Strike". On top of that, a beta bug: mobs parry even from behind. Endurance isn't in this build.
At 30: Players used to respec for Dual Wield Specialization and Blade Flurry here, but since November 2 both sit in the 5th row and don't fit in these 21 points. Keep the build as it is: Composure at 28-29 for the new Poised, and a point in Aggression at 30.
Weapons: a dagger in the main hand, and the slower the better: Backstab uses weapon damage. Anything in the off hand.
Subtlety: Ambush and Hemorrhagefor stealth fans0 / 0 / 21Open hard from stealth, then pick up Hemorrhage at 30. Icy Veins and Mobalytics describe this path but don't recommend it for your first leveling character.
Before Ambush at 18, it feels slow. You'll need a dagger and won't get multi-target damage. Mobalytics suggests leveling in Combat and switching at 30. I'd follow that advice for a first character.
Before level 10, dying costs very little: no Resurrection Sickness, just a little durability. Use a death skip to return from the den west of the grove (step).
All of Zephras Isle is a sanctuary: there's no PvP here on any ruleset. Alliance Skyborne of the High Order quest nearby and kill the same mobs - whoever tags first gets the loot.
The Anchors of Zephras[2] didn't give credit before October 7. Still broken? Abandon it; it's worth 85 XP. Walk on Air stays useful: glide down island cliffs now, avoid lethal falls later.

Cloth from the Bristlebacks and Razormane goes into Wool Bandages. Don't sell the Blood Shard from Bristlebacks: Mangletooth gives you an Agility buff for them (step).
➶ Level faster
Bristlebacks and Razormane are humanoids and walk in twos and threes: Sap one (in Forever you stay in stealth after it) and hit the other. And Pick Pocket before every fight: your level 22 skills and the powder for them will cost about 2.
The Barrens rares Humar the Pridelord (level 23 elite) and Takk the Leaper drop set pieces: two of them give +5% run speed in the Barrens and Stonetalon. If you see one, don't walk past.
⚔︎ PvP
The Alliance needs Chol'aruk too - they have their own version of the quest. Someone hanging around his camp isn't necessarily a partner. On PvP realms in the Barrens it's the Alliance players who are flagged, not you.
An Alliance Rogue will usually open from stealth with a stun. When it ends, use Gouge, get behind them and attack. Arathi Basin opens at 20 on launch. Beta testers report that only the new level-30 battleground is available in beta.
⌂Turn in 1 quest, pick up 10 new ones and visit your trainer
Training at 18 and 20 costs about 150. Ambush only works with a dagger in your main hand: with an axe you can skip it. Rupture is for long fights and elites, when Slice and Dice is already up; Eviscerate finishes a normal mob faster. Blade of Cunning is 6.75 DPS, weaker than what you have: the quest is for the 455 experience, so sell the dagger.
This is the start of the poison chain. Deep Cover[20] leads to the Venture Co. tower in the northern Barrens - the route gets there at 22, when you already have Vanish.
How to do this quest - The Shattered Salute
Do /salute only after he finishes all three lines. Didn't work? Abandon the quest and take it again.
Wrongly Blamed, Justly Corrected[23] has a level 23 elite pillager and level 22-23 Alliance soldiers - solo at 20-21 you have almost no chance. A Rogue doesn't need the rewards: the axe Pathfinder's Clearway is 10 DPS, weaker than Double Axe - take whichever sells for more.
Letter to Jin'Zil[20] is a letter to Stonetalon; you'll deliver it on the next loop (step).

Chol'aruk is a level 20 elite and his guards are elite too: only with a partner. Pull the guards one at a time. Didn't work out? Drop Chol'aruk the Ravener[21]: the quest doesn't unlock anything. Ishamuhale hits hard - start with full energy, and at half health - Evasion.
How to do this quest - Chol'aruk the Ravener

The spiderlings can call a level 22 matriarch: that's what Evasion and Thistle Tea are for.
Two rare elites roam here - a Venture Co. overseer and a foreman. Go around them. If the goblin dies, the quest fails: abandon Gerenzo's Orders[22] and take it again when he's back. Doesn't work the second time either? Abandon it and later turn in only Super Reaper 6000[21]. While you guard the goblin, keep the attackers on yourself: interrupt the casters with Kick, and if two are on you - Evasion. The second wave has four: that's where Thistle Tea comes in handy.
How to do this quest - Gerenzo's Orders
Two waves: first three level 21 fighters, then two fighters and two casters of level 22-23. Very hard solo at 21 - bring a friend.

Steal the key rather than killing for it, as the quest says. Empty pocket? Kill the foreman and wait for Foreman Silixiz to respawn. Inside, dagger builds open with Ambush; with an axe, use Garrote from behind if trained. Patrols walk in pairs: leave one under Sap. Mutated Drones are the toughest; fight them singly with full energy.
How to do this quest - Mission: Possible But Not Probable
Foreman Silixiz: come from behind and pick his pocket at max range. Pocket empty? Kill him and wait for a new one. Kill him after the theft anyway: otherwise he'll attack if you have to run.
Downstairs there are two elite Drones. With a dagger, Ambush kills each in one hit: start with one, back off, then do the second the same way. With an axe or a sword your opener from behind is Garrote, and take them one at a time. In Forever they see stealth better - testers couldn't get through the door at 20.
Upstairs, with a dagger, open with Ambush too: it takes half the boss's health.
The box at the end poisons you: Touch of Zanzil lasts 7 days, and Hinott's Oil removes it - Hinott's reward for the next quest.
Start stealthed at full energy. This is a long fight: use Gouge to regenerate energy while he is incapacitated; at half health, use Evasion and Thistle Tea, then a healing potion if you drop lower. In trouble? Vanish. Beta reports say the box opens without Lockpicking skill. It poisons you with Touch of Zanzil for 7 days, as intended. The antidote is Hinott's Oil, from Hinott's Assistance[20] in Tarren Mill (step).
Recipe: Thistle Tea: the tea gives 100 energy once every 5 minutes; you need Cooking 60. You'll take Hinott's Assistance[26] to Tarren Mill (at ~24) - that's where the route is headed anyway. Hearthstone not ready yet? It's about a 6-minute walk south to the Crossroads, by our estimate.

Beta chases often end at a zone border, where the other player can disappear into a different layer. That's another copy of the zone. A border may help you escape, but chasing someone across it can waste your time.
According to beta data, the exact spot where Deathstalker Masoj stands is still being confirmed - follow the quest marker. South of the vantage point, in Dun Garok itself , there are level 28-30 dwarves, and the riflemen shoot from range: approach the vantage point from the north and don't go down.

Thunder Bluff and Gloomrise
Quest turn-ins · a new Forever camp on Skywatcher Plateau
0 of 6
Turning in the Stonetalon and Ashenvale quests - and something new in Forever: in northwestern Mulgore, above Thunder Bluff, an Earthen Ring camp on Skywatcher Plateau. Three level 30 quests worth ~2.5 thousand experience each, mobs 27-29.
Don't forget in this section
The Broodmother[31] is an elite level 31 spider: group only. No group? Don't take it - the quest doesn't unlock anything.
¤ Shopping and useful stuff
Thunder Bluff, Kard Ragetotem : Main Gauche≈ 193 (from 29) - a dagger with 16.6 DPS, 50% stronger than Kris: for your off hand. The same dagger - Kareth in Orgrimmar.
Thunder Bluff has two elevators - on the southwest and northeast sides. The plateau is northwest of the bluff: take either one down and go around the bluff (which elevator is closer hasn't been checked yet).
New in Forever
⚔︎Questing loop: “Defending the Dead”, “Stronger than Steel”, “Talkin' bout Toxins, Mon” and “The Broodmother”
The spiders come in packs, and Sap doesn't work on beasts: pull them one at a time with a thrown weapon (Throw); two on you - Evasion. Bandage between packs.
The Broodmother[31]: the reward is Transformative Cocoon: it absorbs damage and stuns you for 5 seconds, then gives +60% speed for 8 seconds. Good for escaping.

Back to Thunder Bluff by the same elevator. Tal: fly to Camp Taurajo.
Is your level 29 experience bar less than half full? Do the Southern Barrens first (about 15 thousand experience, by an estimate), otherwise Thousand Needles might not be enough to reach 30.
lvl 29-30
Southern Barrens and Razorfen Kraul (optional)
Razormane camps, Bael Modan, a dungeon
0 of 7
About 15 thousand experience near Taurajo, on the way to Thousand Needles. Useful if you're short of 30 or you've got a group for Razorfen Kraul: there you get Willix the Importer[30] and Monkey Ring (+5 Agility).
Freewind Post, the Galak centaurs, the Sacred Flame · Kidney Shot in Orgrimmar
0 of 8
This is where you hit level 30, followed by a short loop through the capitals: a level 30 axe in Thunder Bluff, and the trainer in Orgrimmar, who teaches Kidney Shot at 30. Set aside about 8 for 30: training is 4, the axe and the dagger about four more. The rest of Thousand Needles is already part of 30+.
Don't forget in this section
Set your hearthstone at Freewind Post and get the flight path there.
Alien Egg[26]: the egg is in one of three places: , or .
Set your hearthstone at Freewind Post: after the trainer in Orgrimmar it brings you straight back here, to the 30+ quests (step).
⚔︎ PvP
Level 30 - battlegrounds. On the beta the new battleground Darkspear Islands, 15 vs 15, opens at 30. The battlemasters in the capitals queue you - Gruga Bloodblade in Orgrimmar and Rugbul Boomfirst in Undercity - and there's also a portal in the Darkspear Raiders camp north of Ratchet . Don't fall into the water - testers complain about sharks.
Thousand Needles is contested, but the Alliance has almost no quests here until 30+ - you can breathe out. From 30 you have two stuns in a row: Cheap Shot from stealth, then Kidney Shot - the whole time your opponent can't heal or cast.
The Sacred Flame[29] rewards Cliffrunner's Aim for ranged pulls. You already know Bows; bring arrows. Still short of 30? Finish up here: Cliffwatcher Longhorn now offers Grimtotem Spying[28], three notes in crates at the Grimtotem camp on Darkcloud Pinnacle ; Elu offers Wind Rider[29], 10 wyvern eggs in Highperch to the west . Turn each quest in to its giver.
Crescent Axe is 55% stronger than Double Axe: unless you have Outlaw Sabre in your main hand, it's the key purchase at 30. According to Wowhead, Boarton Shadetotem also trains Rogues in Thunder Bluff - this hasn't been checked in game. If he does, learn your level 30 skills from him and hearth straight back to Freewind Post (step).
Cheap Shot from stealth, then Kidney Shot - and the mob stands still for almost the whole fight. In the main build, 30 unlocks Blade Flurry; in Assassination - Venom for the new Shank. You don't need Disarm Trap and Garrote for leveling: short on money - save 2 on them.

What's next (30+): the rest of Thousand Needles, Ordanus[29] → The Den[29] in Stonetalon, the Shimmering Flats, Hillsbrad and the Arathi Highlands (where the Ravenholdt quests continue), "Excavation Site: Wetlands" and the Scarlet Monastery. That will be the next part of the guide.

Dungeons: what to pick up in advance
Quests offered far from the entrance, and what a Rogue does in a group
In Forever, experience from dungeon mobs is lower, while dungeon quests give 2-3 times the experience of normal ones (even after the beta bonus was cut in half). Going in without quests makes little sense - collect them in advance, but not earlier than needed: quests "for later" clog your log. In a group a Rogue brings single-target damage and crowd control, and weapons from dungeon rewards beat almost everything vendors sell.
The Rogue in a group: in short
Damage from behind, crowd control, no extra threat
Hit the marked target and only from behind: from the front the mob parries and dodges, and a parry also speeds up its next hit on the tank.
Sap - on a humanoid before the pull. In Forever it doesn't break stealth, so you can take one more out of the fight. Mark the sapped mob so nobody touches it.
Kick is your main button against casters: cultists and trogg Shamans in Ragefire Chasm, Druids of the Fang in Wailing Caverns, worgen casters in Shadowfang Keep.
Feint (16) drops twice as much threat in Forever: use it on cooldown on bosses. Still pulled aggro? Evasion, from 22 - Vanish.
Expose Armor is strong in Forever and no longer gets in a Warrior's way: put it on the boss even if your tank is a Warrior.
Distract (22) turns a patrol away from your group, and in Forever it also lowers enemies' stealth detection.

What to learn, what to hit with and how not to die - up to level 30
What changed in Forever: energy regenerates smoothly, and combo points stay on the old target when you switch until you start building points on the new one. Backstab is weaker (its flat bonus was cut by a third), and Rupture by about 40%. Sap no longer breaks stealth, Distract also reduces enemies' stealth detection, and Feint drops twice as much threat. Poisons still come through the chain starting at 20, with the final quest granting the skill directly. More charges, less damage per proc, though their attack power scaling doubled on November 2. **Rogues can use one-handed axes. Skyborne learn them in Orgrimmar from Sayoc .** Blade Flurry is a 21-point talent that opens exactly at 30, while Mutilate costs 31 points since November 2 and waits until 40. The trainer has new things too: the passive Poised at 18 and the off-hand strike Shank at 24.
Axe or dagger? The main build uses a main-hand axe: a slow axe makes Sinister Strike hit harder. Learn Axes in Orgrimmar from Sayoc . Until then, use a slow sword or mace. From 10, put a fast weapon with good DPS in the off hand, usually a dagger. A main-hand dagger is only needed for builds centered on Backstab or Ambush (18): Combat: Daggers and Subtlety.
Up to level 20 all ranks cost about 3 gold, and from 20 to 30 about 13 gold more (prices from Wowhead Forever). And save up: at 40 riding training will most likely cost about 100 gold, as in Classic.
Raise Poisons by making poisons. The skill cap is 5 times your level. Craft cheap batches as you go, or you'll reach 28 without the 120 skill your next recipe needs.
Reagents and vials in the game files: Rekkul in the Cleft of Shadow, Hula'mahi at the Crossroads, Ezekiel Graves in Undercity, Smudge Thunderwood at Ravenholdt. Check on the spot what's actually for sale on the beta.
Weapons along the way
An axe in the main hand, a dagger in the off hand - what to take from rewards and vendors
You start with Daggers, Swords, Maces, Bows and Thrown. Learn one-handed axes from Sayoc in Orgrimmar. Rogues can't use shields, staves, two-handed weapons or mail.
From 10, after training Dual Wield, equip your main weapon in the main hand and a second in the off hand. A Main Hand restriction prevents equipping that item in the off hand.
4 builds with a talent tree and the order by level
The main one is "Combat: Main-Hand Axe": Endurance at 22-23, Blade Flurry at 30. Also "Assassination" (poisons and Venom at 30), "Combat: Daggers" and "Subtlety: Ambush and Hemorrhage".
Gouge → bandage → back into the fight. Damage interrupts the bandage, so incapacitate the mob first.
Two mobs? Use Evasion and focus one down. Three? I'd use Sprint to leave. From 22, Vanish gives you another escape option.
Sap one of a pair of humanoids with Sap. It leaves you in stealth in Forever, so you can position before engaging the other.
Recover with food or bandages between fights. Skyborne have no racial heal. Refresh the Charged buff at an Elemental Convergence (Skysight gives +30% with it) and use it on long runs.
Learn Cheap Shot at 26 for a stun opener. At 30, follow it with Kidney Shot when you need a longer stun chain.
From 22 - Vanish: the mob loses you, and slows come off. You won't have Blind before 30: in Forever, as in Classic, it's only taught at 34.
A beta bug let mobs parry attacks from behind when you stood too close. Try the edge of melee range.

Professions and camping
What to take, where to learn it and what to collect - up to level 30
Rogue pick: Skinning + Mining, with First Aid and Cooking. Leather and ore pay for training. By 40 you'll need about 100 gold for riding. In Forever, both professions have camping buffs: the skinner's chair gives +2% crit chance, the miner's magnet gives attack power. Alternative: Skinning + Leatherworking to craft your own Agility leather, with less gold left over. Replacing Mining with Leatherworking? Finish your accepted Camping 101: Mining[6] first, then unlearn Mining: you only have two primary profession slots.
Orgrimmar: Mining - Makaru , Skinning - Thuwd , Leatherworking - Karolek , First Aid - Arnok .
Apprentice - up to 75. Journeyman - from skill 50, up to 150. Expert - from skill 125, up to 225.
Camping (new in Forever)official
Unlock camping on the island: The Adventurer[6] → The Great Outdoors[6], Raan Wildwind . After resting at the fire, accept your profession quests. You can learn Cooking while speaking to its quest trainer.
Camp buffs last an hour: the miner's lodestone (+attack power), the skinner's camp chair (+2% crit), the first aid kit (+Stamina). They don't stack with similar class buffs.
Sit by any campfire for a minute, even someone else's - you get a buff for an hour.
Cooking and First Aid
In Forever any cooked food gives +5% experience from kills for 15 minutes - always eat.
20-30: Medium Leather from skinning, Tin Ore in the hills of Hillsbrad and Ashenvale.
New in Forever: a Durotar Supply and Logistics camp near the Crossroads. Fill the crates you find in the world with ore or hides and turn them in for a currency - it buys leatherworking patterns with Agility.
Money
Sell gray items at every stop. Hides, ore and cloth go to the Orgrimmar auction house.
Pick the pockets of humanoids: coins and locked lockboxes, and your Lockpicking grows along the way.
Don't buy a weapon from a vendor if a quest one is 1-2 levels away (the list is in the "Rogue" section).
Aim for about 10 gold saved by level 30: riding at 40 will most likely cost about 100 gold, as in Classic.

What's new in Forever
Only what matters for this route
Beta data (build 1.60.1, as of October 16, 2026, beta level cap 30): the Wowhead Forever database, Blizzard patch notes, the Questie database and the RestedXP route for Forever. Things may change before the November 4 launch.
What stayed the samebeta data
The old Durotar, Orgrimmar and Barrens quests are all still there, with the same coordinates, and the experience needed per level hasn't changed.
The Rogue class quests are the same as in Classic: Wowhead Forever marks them "unchanged". Only one thing is new: Hinott's Assistance[20] now gives you the Poisons skill directly, and Ravenholdt has a new Syndicate Sabotage[24].
No new flight paths for the Horde in 1-30. The hearthstone is once an hour.
Mounts still come at level 40.
Zephras Isle and Orgrimmarbeta data
The island story leads from Thendal Grove through Shen'dar and Valanaar to the Shrine of Akir. Finishing it rewards gear your class can use.
Ruins of Lordaeron - a new dungeon above Undercity, 6 bosses in any order, at 24 on this route (step). In Mulgore, on Skywatcher Plateau - a new Earthen Ring camp with three level 30 quests (step).
The Rogue in Foreverofficial
Energy regenerates smoothly, with no ticks. Combo points don't vanish when you switch targets.
Sap doesn't break stealth. Distract lowers enemies' stealth detection. Feint drops twice as much threat. Expose Armor is stronger and doesn't get in a Warrior's way.
The numbers were cut: Backstab is weaker (the flat bonus was cut by a third), Rupture by about 40%, and poisons hit a third weaker but have about 1.5 times more charges. You can now apply a poison on top of a sharpening stone.
The talents were rebuilt: Hack and Slash replaced four weapon specializations, Mutilate and Flawless Execution were added, and Subtlety became the bleed tree. On November 2 the trees were shuffled again: Mutilate moved to the 31st point, and the trainer got Poised (18) and Shank (24).
Testers say mobs notice a Rogue earlier than in Classic - there's no data on this, but approach mobs from behind.
Skyborne racialsbeta data
Wind Blessed: +2% attack and casting speed (raised to 3% on October 15, cut back to 2% on October 26).
Skysight: +15% movement speed for 15 seconds, +30% with the Charged buff from an Elemental Convergence. Charged lasts an hour and persists through death. A 0.5-second cast and 2-minute cooldown.
Walk on Air: glide for 10 seconds, with a 1.5-minute cooldown. Activate after jumping for a safe landing.
Rulesets to choose from: "Normal" - PvP only if you want it (/pvp). "PvP" - your flag turns on by itself in contested and enemy zones. "RP" - same as Normal.
Horde territory on the 1-20 route: Durotar and the Barrens. Contested: Stonetalon (from 18), then Hillsbrad, Ashenvale and Thousand Needles.
Battlegrounds: Warsong Gulch from 10, Arathi Basin from 20, the new Darkspear Islands (15 vs 15) from 30. On the beta, according to testers, only the level 30 battleground is open.
For a Rogue: Sap on a PvP-flagged player flags you too - on "Normal" realms as well. Since October 8, crits in PvP are no longer reduced, so your first strike from stealth decides a lot again.
Experience and conveniencesofficial
Cooked food gives +5% experience from kills. Camping buffs, the tent and the sleeping bag.
Dungeon quests give 2-3 times the experience of normal ones.
There's no automatic dungeon finder - only the bulletin board, and meeting stones don't summon.
The Legacy system: account-wide bonuses unlock once your first character reaches 25.
Playing with friends who share a language? Pick your preferred language in the settings: you'll land in the same world layer as its speakers more often.

Tips and common mistakes
The hearthstone, dangerous mobs, what not to forget
Island hearths: Thendal Grove → Shen'dar → Valanaar. Once in the Barrens, use the Crossroads until the 20-30 part.
~23 - Undercity: hearth there from Hillsbrad for the trainer and the zeppelin. ~27.6 - Splintertree Post: from Zoram'gar back to the Foulweald. ~29.7 - Freewind Post: from Orgrimmar after the level 30 trainer - back to Thousand Needles.
For short distances - a death run. Almost free until level 10. From 11 - "Resurrection Sickness" and -25% durability.
Stonetalon: Grimtotem casters, the elite Besseleth (without a partner - at 27), rare Venture Co. Elites at Windshear Crag, Sorrow Wing and Sister Riven.
Hillsbrad: the Syndicate Shadow Mages in Durnholde, the level 28-30 dwarves at Dun Garok. Ashenvale: Keeper Ordanus with two guards, Eck'alom.
Common mistakes
Using a main-hand dagger when Sinister Strike is your main attack: a slow axe hits harder.
No second weapon after 10: your off hand is empty, and that's a big chunk of your damage.
Collect quest items after accepting the quest.
Evasion at the last few percent of health: use it as soon as you see the fight is tough.
No First Aid: without bandages a Rogue spends a third of the time sitting.
Fighting higher-level mobs and elites solo: in Forever you miss them a lot - get a group.
Dungeon quests "for later" without a group: they sit in your log and take up space. No group - don't take them.
Made poisons and forgot about them: Instant Poison lasts 30 minutes or until the charges run out. When it falls off, apply it again. The NoPoizen addon reminds you (see the "Addons" section).
